new videos on my site + infamous coin trick
Hi beautiful dancers!
I just figured out how to put higher quality vimeo videos on my site. Please have a look. Included is my coin trick on metacafe which attracts both scorn and praise. BTW that video was a request from a Dubai contact who wanted an act similar to Helena Vlahos. I didn't get the gig, but I got a funny video! oh in the veil, floorwork, sword, fire I am rolling a coin there tooOOoo. (but not as well as the first video! the tv studio was freezing and my skin very dry, so I has to repeatedly lick the coin - it was clean! i'm glad they edited those parts out! i like to add the coin trick to my dunyavi gypsy dance act, sometimes asking an audience member for a coin to give some audience participation. i usually get to keep the coin too! (; helena vlahos is the queen of this particular trick. i don't know the "roots" but i have seen rajastani girls play with coins in their dances. personally it's just for fun and a curiosity and a gimmick. sometimes it's nice to add humor to a show when i've been working a lot of gigs. also money has a very "serious" vibe around it, making it all the more powerful when you play with it. About 1978 I saw a Colorado dancer fold a dollar bill with her stomach muscles. I'd have REALLY been impressed if she could've then used her stomach muscles to slip the dollar bill into her own hip band.
