Default Dance etc.

Dear Anna,
I thought this was a wonderful dance piece. It reminded me a lot of the work of Alvin Ailey in his earlier days and of Savage Jazz out of San Francisco. The fusion works well in both the music selection and in what she wants to do with her dance. She seems to explore cultural themes and elements within the music, yet is totally clear abput her and the music's fusion of those concepts as well. I thought it was very well done, very well timed as far as emotional/physical and musical changes in the piece, etc. I also LOVED that she did not feel the need to do all of this in a belly dance costume!!! I wish more fusion artists would feel free to do such experimentation. so many great things could come of it.
thanks for sharing!
Regards,
A'isha

As some on here know I am a philistine when it comes to "contemporary dance" (must be something to do with me not being very contemporary) but I was really impressed by that ..thanks for posting it and thanks to Anna for her dance.

I am not a huge fan of this to tell you the truth.
The first one was good but did not like the second. There is only so much rolling around on the floor I can take. I am not a contemporary dance fan either.
I do love Raksan of berlin though. She is very clever AND entertaining with what she does. If you see enough of this 'Hilal' style, it leaves you cold eventually, it all begins to look the same like everything else she does.

Have just watched the second and mmm the floor rolling is something like what I have just been watching my grand daughter do.
But I still like the first one and I like the music!
