thanks for your answer, I'm happy you liked the video as well, but it's not my dance- it's from melanie kalff.

I also didn't like the second performance so much, but it wasn't because of the "floor-rolling"- I don't know what it is, it's just not as strong as the other one, I guess.

Kind of reminds me of damien hurst in a way - once is a new idea and makes people think, but what is the point of a series of conceptual art pieces around the same theme.

Quite, and this is where this loses me.

It has the same effect as ATS with me, great the first few times and then you get the feeling that you have seen it again and again and everything starts to look and feel the same. (sorry folks...)
This does not mean I dont like it, it just means my attention span for it is very limited.

but back to contemporary topic. I liked the first, the music and the way it was interpreted but please don't think I am a convert
I glazed over at the second as is my wont with soemthing I don't understand. I can't help being Mrs Thicky when it comes to a lot of experiental stuff. I have to have things spelt out to me. Can't always be ar$ed trying to work things out..like making one's own pasta..life's too short...

Dear Caroline,
I feel this same way, in that often, when you have too much of any one kind of thing in a performance, it all begins to look alike. The trouble with say, Rachel Brice is that she is fabulous once in a show, but after three times, in the same show, it becomes apparent that she is doing the same dance over, and over and over again, in the same costume or a similar one, to music that is much the same as the first music she used in a show. After awhile the term "One Trick Pony" came to mind and I thought that was a shame because what she does is fascinating if it is presented as a highlight rather than a filler in a show. I am using Rachel as an example here, but she is not the only one.
