The belly fat rolling in the beginning was a turn off for me, once she did the somersault that was it. So I would say or taken aback ... but it is interesting since I am not from this culture. Salam~Mahmoud

Schikhatt is not a sophisticated dance of intricacies true... but the singing and playing and kind of rootedness, earthiness and energy of the dancing - the directness and ribald 'tude appeals... to me

I loved it! It was a real celebration, of womanhood. The dancer is very in touch with herself and celebrates her 'wholeness' unabashedly.
![]() As for it being or not being Schikhatt, I don't know, this is the first time I have seen a dance like that. Salome, what does Schikhatt mean? ( if there is a meaning) ~Mosaic |

the word is driven from the word old as of old age, now it can means many things to different people. In the golf area it is a title for the rulers and their family you basically born to be one. In Saudi Arabia and Egypt it would be a religious knowledge, as well as being just old person but in a respected way. The tricky part is sometime it used by people who claim knowledge of the future communicate with the dead and being able to do supernatural things, they are basically criminals who take advantage of poor people. I really don't know about Morocco Salam~Mahmoud
