Caroline - What is the rotana melody channel? I am so hoping it is the 'arabic mtv' that I have been trying to find in the UK but can never figure out what to look for

Do you have satellite with Nilesat channels etc?

It is the Rotana music channel like MTV. It also depends what area you live in, my brother in law lives in Essex and he cannot get the same channels as us in the North. I dont know how these things work to be honest.
If you are getting the satellite installed, you can check exactly what channels you will receive etc. there are also lots of other music channel available too.

If you are looking for Arabic MTV, there are a few of them.

Rotana has different ones:
clip - for arabic pop
tarab - for oum kalthoum and other tarab music
zaman - for old movies (the clip in this thread is form zaman)
cinema - for contemporary movies
khalegy - for khalegy music clip

Melody is another one:
arabia - only arabic pop
tunes - only western pop
hits - both arabic and western, but mostly arabic
aflam - for arabic movies

Thanks Outi. I was about to say, Melody and Rotana are two seperate channels, each belongs to a different company. I personally would take Rotana over Melody any day. I think Melody is so trashy.

I told you I dont know how the satellite works.. yes they are two different channels.
