LMAO (it's late and I'm tired and my sophisticated sense of humour has deserted me...)

It can't be as rude in the US - Ironside was going on about bollixing something up in the 70's.

(Sorry, going horrible off topic... carry on)

My sister and I took the chance of smoking shisha in Tunisia a few years back and as other women were indulging, we took notice of the brother-in-law's protest. On getting going, the waiter leant forward and said with a wink
"Iz Dog's Bollocks, no?" there ya go..it's got to Sousse,North Africa along with "Asda price" and "cheeky bugger"!

I also told the shoe salesmen in the souk to shout out BOGOF..."isn't that rude, madam?" "Nah..it's Buy One Get One Free" so if you venture into the souk in Sousse, you get told BOGOF you know who to blame.

I shall take heed.. we do need to be careful about assumptions and hearsay.
However, it is true that Soraya is at the Marriott and Randa is not, and it was half full as I saw it with my own eyes. As for why the change, I know what Randa said about it but I will keep it to myself.

Dear Caroline,
More's the pity as I would rather watch Randa any day. I could not locate her the whole timeI was in Cairo in April. It turns out she was on the boat one night when Esmahan was scheduled, and Eshta saw her and said she was wonderful. Soraya is cute enough I guess, and a good dancer, but for me she does not have "the THING" if you know what I mean. The first time I saw her on video I could spot that she was not native.... there is just something.... same with Esmahan who's dancing is just off, way more than Soraya's. I don't know if she does not keep time well, or what exactly it is.....
Regards,
A'isha

I dont mind any of those dancers actually but like you said, Randa is the most sought after and watched so i dont know why she was replaced at the Marriott. who knows what really goes and on and the real truth. I saw Soraya about 2 months ago at the Intercontinental Fayrouz restaurant and she is a sweet and generous dancer. I did feel she was a little hampered bu her platform shoes though. Asmahan I have seen at 2 weddings and she was ok. I do like her but the Disney element is not my cup of tea but it appears to be appreciated by the Egyptians. The ones who loved her said at least she makes an effort.
I do like Nancy on the Grand Hyatt Marquisse and she barely gets a mention. Has anyone else seen her and what do you think?

Dear Caroline,
Is it mostly Egyptians, then, who are going to the hotel and boat shows to see Esmahan and the Randa and the rest? I have always been under the impression that the belly dance shows at such locations are rather prompted by the tourist business rather than by the natives...??? BTW I have not seen Nancy, but Shareen El Safy loves her, too, if memory serves. It seems it is often not the best dancers that get noticed as much as the showiest ones with the most tricks.
Regards,
A'isha

Some Egyptians do go on the boats for birthdays etc. but it is mostly tourists.
I was reffering more to the popularity of Asmahan at Egyptian weddings.
Nancy is well worth seeing and she just gets better every time I see her.
