Anyone mention Bahaia? She is one of the best in the USA of Egyptian style. Very classy dancer.

She has a video clip on her website "Belly Dance with BAHAIA" .

I *love* Bahaia's dancing, I just wouldn't call it truly Egyptian in the same sense that Shareen el Safy or Sahra Kent is truly Egyptian. She is one of many American dancers such as Jillina that uses Egyptian technique and movement; I would call her style Americanized Egyptian.

Happy New Year to you and Mark! My dance company is ringing in 2008 by doing our last performance of the old year at 11 PM tonight.

How about David of Scandinavia? I found a clip of him dancing to Oum Kalthoum which literally blew me away. The person who posted the clip said some nasty things about him but I left comments telling her men do "bellydance".

Dear Damariz,
David is a wonderful dancer and a very good instructor. My dance company sponsored him and we were very happy with everything that he presented, and with him a person. He is knowledgeable, skilled in his dance, has very distinct stylings for the different forms he dances, presents a class with intelligence and meaning.

AND he LOVES dessert, which makes him one of my favorite people to have dinner with. (Mark Balahadia, on the other hand says stuff like, "A'isha, do you really need that?", whenever I pop a pound or two of chocolate into my mouth. The voice of my conscience now sounds exactly like Mark and cute little devil on my other shoulder sounds like David.

Regards,
A'isha
