Sadie is the first ever belly dancer I saw on YouTube who totally mesmerized me. I know I will not be able to have even 1/4 of her talent, maybe in another lifetime, hahaha! Her moves still leave me spellbound...
Her partner, Kaya, is also impressive but I admire Sadie much more because I think she is very elegant too.

I'm attendng a seminar with Sadie this upcoming weekend. It's a two day affair, with a performance of local dancers and Sadie on Saturday night. I'll happy to give an up close and personal critique!

First of all Sadie is a naturally beautiful young woman. Her beauty radiates outward and it's not distorted by plastic surgery or heavy cosmetics. She has naturally long arms and a long torso that is hour glass shaped, firm legs and large feet. As a result, she dances in a manner that highlights her shpae and flexibility. Her long torso really makes her isolations visible and she highlighs this by her amazing locks and pops. I will say that a great deal of her appeal is her connection to younger dancers..she does understand the various dynamics of the dance. She belves in honoring the original countries, but still wants to have fun as well! She presented a two day workshop, that was to cover certain aspects of modern bellydance. The first day was divided into 2 parts: Modern Arabic Pop Choreography and Diva Within. The Pop choreography was set to Habibi Ya Einy(BDSS version Vol 3). Like most choreography based seminars, it focused on technique and not necessarily concepts of bellydance. The movements were internally driven with fast transitions. I found that many beginner dancers were not able to keep up...as Sadie moved through teaching it at breakneck speed. She only had two hours within the first segment. Needless to say, there were many newer dancers who could not keep up..even though she described the move..it was hard for some participants to replicate the movement within a short span of time. She did not have a written copy of the choreography..even though she did tell participants where to fnd the music. She encouraged us many times to 'feel' the music....but that could mean different things to different people. Instead, it may have been better to 'guide' the students to place their emotions and movements within specific phrases of music. The second half of the Saturday workshop was designed to help the dancer develop her inner Diva. I thought that this segment should have been presented first..as she took greater time to describe music and certain emotional interpretations. Being Diva is certainly one character aspect... she did guide using dance concepts rather than hard and fast choreography. Day two of the seminar focused on the secrets of drum solo..Sadie style!! I have mentioned that I was quite sore and now almost a week later do i feel normal!!! These are Sadie's drum solo secrets..which isn't a bad thing. I think it's important that a dancer is exposed to different styles. I'm not shaped like Sadie..but I was able to learn a few good combos that I can adjust to my body type and personal style. On the second day, the info was presented in a more logical manner with plenty of repetition. But again she did not present a written choreography. Fast internal locks and pops, split second transitions and complex layering. Very challenging for beginners..but worth it. New combos for those of us who've been dancing for a while. Practce, pracice adn more practice!!! I enjoyed the workshops and I have some great pics of her performance from Saturday night as well a personal photo of us together and signed program. ![]() I think Sadie will continue to grow as a workshop instructor. I would recommend checking her out if she's sponsored near you! Yasmine
