I'm always impressed with dancers who post their videos! it sounds like you used Solace(Rhythm of the Dance?), I like your shimmies and use of the space that was provided. I can see you personality come through the dance. But why is the piece labeled Gypsy Fusion? Fortunately, unfortunately dancers often have a critical eye in regards to music selection and interpretation. Based on the title I was expecting a Romany inspired dance using Romany(9/8 rhythms etc) music and similar costuming, but the performance was a fusion of Cabaret moves(fluffing of the hair, travelling choo-choo shimmies with undulations, extensive floorwork during taxim, etc) with Tribal fusion arms(strong elbows, linear position and placement of arms) and ritualistic Zaar movements. Each one of these elements showed your flair and versatility, and your audience loved it, but the fusion wasn't seamless. I hope you perceive these comments to be constructive, I'd be looking forward to more vids from you in the future.
Yasmine P.S. Watch your hands, they were splayed open and lacked flowing energy, I often have this problem when i'm really into a dance. |

Hi Yasmine !
Thnaks for your comments. About the title: hm, I had to find one, I didn't know exactly what to write. I have written gypsy not to write Romany, precisely because there is nothing Romany. On the other hand, I am working a lot lot on the archetype of the gypsy dancer, the wild/sensual/and especially expressive dancer. Well, that's the ony reason. This dance can take any other name which suits better ! Thanks again for your comments! Mihrimah ![]() |

What about "Gypsy Fantasy"? That definitely would suit better. If you are not sure what kind of dance you are dancing, call it fantasy and you are safe ![]()

Hi Chryssanthi,
well, I'm also doing gypsy fantasy but for me that's something different. In my gypsy fantasy dances, I always take real romany music as well as romany movements. The dance on the video is something different, more experimental. Maybe that's a better name for it : experimental... |
