Why, Why, Why???

I have bought two off the rack costumes in the last month (after making a tribaret one, and continuously working on a cabaret one for the last year it was time) and BOTH of them require much re-engineering in order to actually wear!

The bra and belt only took about two hours of stitching/replacing hooks/placing straps but the cabaret dress I bought needs a lot of help; I wore it for a performance recently and realized it needs like two more straps than it has in order to actually STAY where it needs to stay.

So, for those of you who get custom made costumes -- do you still have to do adjustment/resew straps/etc in order to actually wear your costume?

Off the rack one expects some adjustments will need to be made, but if I had a costume custom made, I would expect it to be custom made to fit my measurements. Unless I had packed a few Oreo-cookie related pounds onto my hips while the costume was being sewn, I'd expect it to fit without me having to monkey with it.

If you've had in person measurments taken, custom made should fit like a glove. I have had to make very slight alterations to custom made bedlahs regarding the hooks due to the type of materials used. If you are x inches around and the material doesn't have one iota of give or the material has plenty of give I've had to adjust for that. I've always had to do quite a bit of work for off the rack costuming.

Blue-I believe they mean they buy them from a store or shop where they are already made to a specific size (S, M, L). This means that it's not CUSTOM FITTED for that particular person.
