I requested Salome to bring back the forum to life in spite of her busy schedule and finiancial constraints in running the forum, and she agreed. I think you will hear more from her soon. Yes, the forum is going to be active again, we are working on things in the background, welcome back!

My browser autofilled the site URL in this morning, and I was surprised to see it back!

I found this video a while ago and never got around to sending it to Zorba to ask if he'd seen it, so let's start a conversation...

Saudi skirt dancing

This clip is described as "Amazing Music Dance performance of Saudi Arabia at Saudi Pavilion," and as far as I can tell, it was filmed in Dubai. I don't think I've ever seen this kind of dancing with skirtwork before. I wish I had more information about it... Saudi Arabia Traditional Dance...

Some pre-filtering on the new users process is BADLY needed. At least REJECT any .ru signups and blacklisted emails. Don't say anything, send no messages, just send this crap straight to /dev/nul

As it is, the forum is virtually useless as its a HUGE SPAM trap with zero protection. I just dumped 7 more this morning!

Yes, spam is taken care of but still, we can't do anything about manual spammers. I will keep an eye out though. :cool:

What about auto-rejecting new users who use a blacklisted IP or email - or are .ru ? That alone would stop 95% of the crap. I'm a moderator - I don't at all mind helping out, but on the other hand I shouldn't have to delete a bunch of obvious bot "users" that should be filtered out autonomously.

Hi, Salome. Did Arun tell you I asked that the title Super-moderator be bestowed on Zorba, allowing me to sink into semi-retirement? He is still active in dance and I am not, though I'm willing to be a back-up site moderator until the cows come home. His tech saavy also outweights mine considerably.

No, that sort of dancing took place earlier in the evening in a warmer environment. Now that I think back, Hale Bopp and the eclipse were at the spring equinix, not the summer solstice, My bad memory.
