I need the opinion of the lovely forum members:)

hello Everyone,
So this weekend I am participating in a dance competition This will be my 5th competition (oh wow how time flies) lol however the costume debacle that occured at my first competition has left me a little gun shy (for those who don't know I wore my ivory , light yellow and gold flower costume and was severely docked for "wearing the wrong colour for my complexion").

At the following 3 competitions I competed in Multiple categories so I got to wear multiple costumes which made the selection process easier. However this competition is just one category. My music is soft entrace, baladi progression, fast paced drum solo and exit. I have narrowed it down to three costumes. All of which I have performed in before without being told that I am too pale to wear that... I have a favourite, however I'm interested in hearing the opinions of others in which costume looks the best and which style suits my dancing the most.

I know it seems silly but the first three competitions I went to the majority of the feedback was based around my costume, lack of accessories etc, so I want to make sure I get it right this time lol.
I don't have pictures of the three costumes on, but I have video.

Oh you're right, the colour in the first is off because the lighting is yellow and you can't see the detail of the costume. I will try to get a picture in natural light of each.

I get it, appearance and presentation matter. But it's upsetting to hear costuming appears to be the most prized aspect of someone's performance during most competitions.

I think all these costumes look great on you and compliment your dancing. I don't remember the colors on the first one if I've even seen it before, but based just on the videos that would be my pick.

I think the fluffy flowers are kind of your costuming signature. I don't know if this is one of the costumes you made yourself but I know the other two definitely aren't, and who knows, there is always the possibility someone else might have the same costume or at least a similar one. I vote for uniqueness!

Purple one! I love the way it moves while you are dancing. The link for the orange one doesn't seem to be working for me, but the black one (as said above) gets lost in the background.

I've never done BD competition before; but loosing points because the costumes "doesnt fit your complexion" is bull! Its one thing to get up there and look like a train wreck, its another to simply wear "the wrong colour". Its not a beauty pageant.

My vote is for the purple one, too. However, what you wore at Rakassah 09 showed well, too.

I like the purple, but if there is lighting, it will make your costume look brown. If it is daylight it should be fine. I like the way your skirt flowed in the first clip and the flower.

They are all lovely though I do agree with the others about the dark one blending in a little too much with the dark background.

Can't see the colours too well, but I loved the way the costume in the first video moved. It swung around very nicely.

As it is a pale colour it would stand out well against a dark background.

Another purple vote The first video it was difficult to separate the colour from the light. I know it will be beautiful because all your costunes are. In the right light the black & gold would be stunning, so I suppose it will depend on the time of day and lighting if any. But the Purple looks gorgeous.

I thought the black one had the most instant impact, but it's a big risk if you don't know what the stage will be like - it does disappear against a black backdrop.

ITA with what's been said about marking down specifically for colour. If you've picked something that makes you look terrible maybe mark down for overall presentation, or even a note that maybe so&so colour is not your friend, but really, it's not the exit exam for a colour me beautiful course.

Another vote for purple. You can add a necklace I think, that's probably what they meant by not enough accessories. And maybe bracelets/bangles? Not sure if that goes with the upper arm thingies.
It's such a difficult thing because it depends on the taste of the person.

Some people brought up a good point. Do you know what the color of the background will be? That would affect my costume choice, if I could find it out beforehand.

I just wanted to add that all three costumes are very pretty and that you are beautiful in any of them. I am outraged (and I was when you first told about the critique) that the judges focused so much on the costume colour

This is just my opinion but, I would personally go for more color than the black Soley based off of the feedback from the judge that you posted on here. im hoping a judge wouldn't say the same thing about black on your skin tone, but who knows. You still are fair skinned right? and i think she said the white washed you out or something, id hate for her to say the same thing about black against your skin. If i she wanted you in some brighter colors due to your complection I think purple fits the bill.

But honestly you looked so amazing in that white flowery wite outfit. I loved it.

FINALLY, here are some pictures. Starting with the yellow/orange...it's a Hoda Zaki and possibly one of my favourite costumes ever. I just put the flowers on it as I had been dying to/planning to make an orange and yellow costume but was having issues finding the fabric that I had in my head and I saw this one and fell in love. Hoda's also fit me really well typically off the rack without any major alteration. I swear she has a dress form that must look just like me.

The email informed us that the stage floor is black and the background is "light blue"......It is a proper stage with proper stage lights. There are videos on youtube from last years competition but this year is at a new venue so I am not sure who similiar it will be.

I honestly can't imagine you in anything other than the orange. I suppose if you stuck flowers on the others they would make them more you.
