ACK! It's so annoying having to cook dinner and try to mod at the same time---I can never post fast enough! -_- He's gone again (his little green light is out). :(

I don't think your story is boring, I find it interesting, thanks for sharing. I think it's great you are interested in the dance, the facts & history surrounding it. Are you a professional photographer or a hobbyist?

I am a hobbyist. I usually shoot people in the street, mothers walking her children, people taking the cab, playing in the field, i also take pictures to historical monuments and the colonial zone of Santo Domingo and other cities of my country, well you get the point.

Sounds interesting, I have seen photos taken by a friend who likes to take photos of people in the city, on trains, trams and they are great. I am the world's worst photographer, and get really excited if I manage to get a good shot of something:D

How did I ask mean?! And all this time I wasn't even bothered by your thin/fat comment!

See, now people have a better understanding of you vs. thinking you're just some creepy perv looking to cause trouble... I kid, I kid :D

With today modern digital cameras is easier to take pictures, i`m sure you`re not the worst photographer:) With children is easier because they voluntary see the camera and smile. I`d like to take pictures of belly dancers in those parties and weddings of Egyptian or Indian style, i`d love to attend to one.

Persons of Questionable and Dubious Intent...

...I love that one...I'm going to use it to replace saying "perv" from now on. PQDI for short :)

I haven't seen any, but I'm sure it does happen. I sometimes post on a forum I found researching a product. The whole forum is set up against this particular product...and they've actually gotten people joining asking for help selling it! LOL

It would be like someone coming on here to ask us all to help them close down the studio and held belly dance classes and erradicate it from their community....

LOL...no...it's a site about multi-level marketing cosmetics companies. I almost signed up to sell a few things and got talked out of it by reading and asking questions on this anti-MLM site....and even though I don't have the horror stories some of the people on there have, I sometimes pop in just to say "hey" and read a bit because the people who are on the site are like the people here...very nice and welcoming.....there's just the odd "PQDI" type on there too, just like here :)

:shok: sorry but that offended me.
At least I'm not the only one who was offended.
Especially the "very thin" part. I know quite a few women who eat all they can but can't gain weight, no matter how hard they try. Its not fair to say that they shouldn't be dancers.

Oh, and on topic, I don't like dancers who:

- Focus too much on the props. "Yes, the veil is nice, but how about setting it down so we can see some dancing."
- Who have no respect for belly dance as an art, and/or dancers who only belly dance to be sexy.
- Who think that learning a few moves Shakira did makes her/him a belly dancer.
- Who make youtube videos in a top, and hip scarf only. Put some pants on or something.
- Who think that belly dancers should only be one body type.

I am pretty tolerant of the fact that dancing is apples and oranges, style preferences and music are not really up my alley to knock as i dont really think its fair.

The one thing that i've seen that i will say that i don't like is once i saw a performer use a veil. She literally spun around super fast for the entirety of the performance and the audience was ohhhing and awwwwing, because you know, she didn't fall. But that was just it, she didn't really do any dancing she really just spun with her veil for shock effect- and i was waiting for her to fall. I actually wondered to myself if she even knew how to BD, as she did turns so much that it made me seem like she was hiding something. I think the audience might have been impressed, but i didn't like it at all.

And im not exaggerating she literally was spinning the whole time. Im suprised she didnt throw-up or get sick.

i know a lot of people love this dancer but i do not like the turkish dancer Didem, she just seems I don't know fake, like she is only in it to look good and when she is performing it seems all she does is showboating, thats just how I feel nothing wrong with someone else liking her she is just not my cup of tea:lol:

It is fun when it is a short part of the show, Petite Jamila does some awesome tricks for example (plus gymnastics, that can be cool too, if done just once or twice but not the whole show)
