Kinda male Rachel Brice. Seen one ........seen em all

I am beginning to understand there are not many people that interested in the tribal art forms, is this for any particular reason or is it just a case the usual snobbery in chosen styles ?

Well, I am most interested in traditional dances from the Middle East, especially raqs sharqi.

I enjoy good tribal fusion but it is not my primary interest. Ballet and ballroom dance are also not my primary interest, but I don't think any of this makes me a snob.

Sorry for my use of the word snob, it is not really my intention to use what can be a derogatory term and I did think it might be misconstrued but it was not meant as an insult but I hope those reading can understand what it is that I am trying to get at.

Could it be that most whom I have come across are ME fans preferring the traditional as opposed to the modern ?

Its not traditional vs. modern, its Middle Eastern vs. Western.

"Tribal" dance is not a modern Middle Eastern dance form.

And I am sorry to be so flippant - but I feel that wat too many dancers try to imitate Rachel Brice. Although, I must admit that I too prefer #Egyptian

I took a look at some of his other clips and I like his Chinese stuff much more. I agree with Sedonia. Tribal is Western dance and most of us are interested in Eastern dance particularly Egyptian.

One of the problems I have with Tribal Fusion is like Jenc said seen one seen them all. There is no emotion or personality expressed, therefore, although what they do with their bodies is awesome, it leaves me cold. The other thing is that the energy seems to stay on one level, but my biggest gripe are the arms. I spend all my classes training my students not to have chicken wings. I thing it also strangles the vital energy from flowing into the chest and doesn't give the body a graceful frame.

It is a dance form inspired by Middle Eastern dance, but is not the same thing. Its like trying to call a french fry a potato.

OMG yes. I've been wondering about those arms lately. What's up with those? It's just copying the tomb wall paintings right? they have never actually danced like that right?
