Rained a little over half an inch yesterday. Cloudy today. Suits me. Hope it will be nice on Granby Lake this weekend. Both my daughter and I could use a nice restful weekend together.

Are there a lot of spruces at Granby Lake?

App. 25C and cloudy. A bit hot to do field work to my taste, but I'm not complaining. Been out walking all day having fun with colleagues.

It’s raining!
It rained last night and again tonight! And tonight it’s a nice steady drizzle!
(That’s important in a desert. It’s so dry that a sudden downpour just runs off the top and doesn’t soak in,)

68 degrees and very, very smoky. The red tail hawks nesting in the tree across the road from us as in full cry this morning. Time for mom and dad to deliver more snake snacks, say the babies.

The weather here is WILD. Tornadoes with multiple voreces, extreme heat, extreme storms - it's really not fit for much but staying inside, just like very cold and snowy weather.

Sounds challenging. Are you in Chicago, Fotia? Our biggest headache (figuratively and literally) is smoke from wildfire in California and Oregon.

Smoke from the state of California has been causing respiratory issues in New Mexico. Monsoon humidity has finally lifted, so the a/c is working again. Can see the Sandia Mountains this morning so it looks to be a good day.

The sky has a tinge of blue today but I still feel like I have a sinus cold... and I don't. Gorgeous scenery in the bottom photo, Ariadne.

There are some benefits to living here.

I've been using an inhaler every day for the last few weeks because the particles in the air from the fires is irritating my throat so bad.

Went to lunch with an old friend. Sat on the patio under enormous old Cottonwoods. (That part was lovely.) However, due to recent monsoons there were flies everywhere. Being accosted by clouds of flies wasn't enough reason to drive us indoor during a pandemic. Next time, takeout.

Skies definitely blue right now. Air clear enough to determine there are still trees on the mountain. Went on a bat walk (an expedition looking for bats) last night. I suspect hunting was good for the bats. My grandson and I used a good quarter can of OFF! to repel mosquitoes and they still found places to bite us.

51 degrees this morning, cloudy, rain last night, more predicted for today along with a high of 71 degrees. Feels like fall this morning, but I am not giving in and wearing real shoes. Nope, not gonna do it until frostbite is a possibility.

We're now in the dog days of summer. August and September are the hot months here. Especially the mid afternoon - from about 4 til 6 or so - that sun just GLARES down... It'll lay off a bit in October, and a bit more around mid-November and will be nice from December to at least April. Sept. is "Hell month" - that's when the Hurricanes are most likely to hit.

Smoke has been so constant here that a glimpse of blue sky gives a gentle but pleasurable shock to the system. Currently 56 degrees with a steady 20 mph wind blowing. Supposed to be back in the 80s later this week, but fall's coming.

Temperatures have dropped and fall is here. Today it is15C, cloudy. Some rain showers (heavy rain the next couple of days predicted) and a few rays of sun.

Dog days now here too. Extreme heat and even more extreme humidity, plus dramatic rain and thunderstorms. My hair is a mess.
