I've just read your first post again and can see the warning right there "Throw in something for expenses" means bus fare..... it was there to be seen from the beginning. even if you had the chance to state your expenses, they would not have added up to a proper fee, would they??

Here is the message that has just been posted: *************** Well tonight was right up there... A nursing home called and booked my students only three days in advance. I should have said no- silly me. Then they moved our building location 15 min before we were to go on. Instead of the large dining room we were told about, we danced on an outdoor deck. There were so many elderly people with walkers, chairs, etc. we couldn't get through the door to where we were supposed to dance, so we went out the front door and around the side of the building to make our enterance. I had taken off my shoes (to dance on the unexpected deck) and promptly stepped in dog poop- barefoot. As we went to get up on the deck, everyone's costumes caught in a rose bush on the way by. As soon as we got up there it was the wrong music. The next was a student solo and she also had the wrong music. And of course the next student solo was the wrong music again. Thank goodness they played it off and improvised very well I finally had an opportunity to straighten out the music situation, so we had the right music for our next cane dance, but one lady was squashed against a BBQ grill and another girl got her costume soaked in the wading pool; all of which were on the deck. My left earring got stuck on the shoulder of my baladi dress for about half the dance while I was choking up on my cane to avoid smacking the deck rail. Needless to say, with all the distractions, the dance did not go quite as planned. The students came through it like champs, despite everything, and nobody noticed! Improvise, adapt, and overcome! *************** There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again. All the best, Belly Dance Forums Once again, this is Jane's story, not mine! |
