no-the point of this law is to make it difficult for people to buy swords in shops in the uk and limit there availability to the general public.

Hi,

I'm new but I just wanted to say that I was at a show and the bouncer searched a performers bag at the door and found her sword. But he let her in to perform.

I agree with estha, at some point it gets ridiculous. We can talk about saftey and kind of things.... AT heathrow they almost shoot you if you have a nail file in your pocket.... but once you are on the plane they bring you meal with STEEL KNIFE AND FORK.... It really amazed me.... I suppose it is easier for them to control if you just lump everything in one pile and ban all the metal objects to eliminate doubt, ban all swords... or whatever... suppose just a relity of fast paced, mass-production world... lump all in one...

My friend once had a tiny wrench for his bike confiscated. It was about an inch long. I also had a friend whose dad's luggage was lost somewhere and an airport took the bag outside and blew it up. They sent him the tattered bag.

Wow you must fly on posh planes...I've only ever had plastic cutlery if you can grace it with that title mind you I wouldn't call the food food either!

But in the final analysis, if it keeps me safe, I'll put up with inconveniences.

I always fly on cheapest available option economy class of course, my list so far British Airways, Lufthansa and Czech airlines.... I will definitly not fly on so "no-name brand" - recently local airline plane lost an engine at the airport...LMAO

But I always fish for bargains....

And yes I was annoyed with such stupidity.... what will I poke someone in the eye with nail-file? On the other hand people try to take weird stuff on the plane, at one of airports I have seen a big glass box with confiscated stuff- lots of knives and seamstress scissors...LOL

*Sigh* don't get me started on this! Oops, too late!

I know, its always fun when people ask "so what do you do"He has been training since he was a kid and is an expert on Rapier(the kind of sword you see in zorro) He writes books, runs a few sword schools and demonstrates all over the place.
Pia what's his name? I may know him by association, my very good friend and sword teacher specialises in Rapier (he apprenticed with a Rapier master (many hours a day, every single day, for a year)). I can't wait to get onto Rapier, as I think it requires far less exertion than long sword (those things are hefty).

I always wanted to learn fencing but the local group told me I was too aggressive. They want to do it the Olympic way, I am more interested in sword fighting as it once was.
