Hmmm, Honolulu, I could live with that. If it happens during July with a decent amount of notice I could go anywhere and I would love to do this. Ohhhhhh I would gladly volunteer to provide services as Stage Manager if you'd like. just tell me when and where.....LOL

Well, I will get in contact with my editor if this thought is amenable to all. Anyone else think Honolulu is a good place? I used to specialize in budget travel so I can find some pretty amazing airfares, though I am concerned about dancers that might be interested traveling from places like Dubai. Any suggestions about what such a show ought to be called?

Oh darlin', we KNOW you don't mean any disrepespect! I just had to pipe up to A'isha as, like her, I have never found an opening to address that male dancer lust issue!
![]() I would dig Honolulu! That was my annual family trip for 12 years, and it is like a second home in my heart, and I haven't been back in over a decade! But maybe we should see how many dancers are planning to truly consider this,a nd see where most of them are and *start* from there. |

. I saw a situation like that about a month ago. Hate that. If the males in the audience would act that way when a woman would be dancing, all women would be highly offended...Honolulu, Dubai, Caribbean, Greece... All those holiday addresses, LOL! I'm affraid I don't have the money or time now to travel that far, but we will see.(Or maybe I'm just affraid to meet you all because everyone knows me but I don't dance so well yet.) |

Dear Moon, It is not merely a matter of the sexual innuendo. I have witnessed women just having cows over some rather average male dancer, while politely clapping over a really good female dancer. This is the rather blatant tip of the ice berg. It is also that males are often given preferential treatment by many female belly dancers in a lot of other insidious, and probably unconscious ways. For example, I have seen them fawn over what males say, do, etc. A man and a woman can express practically the same point of view and female dancers will ignore the woman and act like the man just brought them the Holy Grail!! It's very weird.....???? Just to clarify my stance as an equal opportunity dancer who is NOT prejudiced against male dancers, I not only attend workshops given by males, I also teach and coach males, and hire males for workshops and shows. My requirements for men in any of these activities is the same as for women. Regards, A'isha |

To A'isha- I have the same requirements when I teach men as I do when I teach women. I resent favoritism towards either sex, and I do not like the whooping you speak of either. I am an equalist. But of course you know all my views on that already.
Regarding any other destination for this, I certainly would love to go to Greece or Dubai! I only suggest Honolulu because I am familiar with it and have connections there. In fact, I'd love an excuse to see another country. So, who's in on this bellydance ozzfest? Where does everyone want to go? How long should the festival be, etc? Anyone we would like to see perform in particular? I can try to get in touch with them. I am warming to this idea very much!!

Hi Lydia-
If we set it in Dubai, could you make the arrangements? Likewise, I think it was Maria who suggested Greece- could she make the arrangements? This will be a pretty big deal as far as logistics go. Let me know and perhaps we can work together to make the event!
