Hi,
I am a new member (actually just joined) and I have problem I am hoping someone might be able to help with. I am in my mid-twenties and I am planning to do a performance with my Mom (she's in her early fifties); first performancefor her, second for me. We have ideas for choreography but are having trouble finding a song. I know how important it is that the lyrics be appropriate so I don't want us to dance to a love song, but finding a song that has anything to do with mothers/daughters is a challenge. Does anyone know of any song that might work? Even just a neutral song will work...else we'll have to go with a drum solo and I don't think we are ready for that yet. Ideally I guess we were hoping for something fun (i.e. mother shows daughter moves and daughter follows style). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Felicita |

Welcome MsFelicita, Have you checked the Music and Lyric section of the forum? You may find ideas there. You may also try Belly Dancing -- Art Of Middle Eastern Dance -- Bellydancing in Iowa City, Shira has a list of Arabic and Turkish songs with lyrics. Since music selection is based on personal tastes, I hesitate on giving some of my favorites but I'm sure other may have some good suggestions for you.

Soooo nice to see Mum and Daughter teams! My daughter is 14 and dancing with me in a class that has another woman my age (43) and her mother! Bellydance is just great for breaking stereotypes!!

Hi Felicita
![]() What about Shik, Shak, Shok??? The lyrics start with nassik ya habibi il rap w il rock (My darling, I'm going to make you forget about rap and rock) shik shak shok shik shak shok nassik ya habibi il rap w il rock My darling, I'm going to make you forget about rap and rock wi ta aala nir'os baladi Come, let us dance baladi (our native music) Sounds like something a parent could tell his/her child..... and it would go perfect with your idea of "mother shows daughter moves and daughter follows style" Plus it is such a great, fun song!!! Good luck ![]() Last edited by Ecuabellydancer; 10-16-2007 at 11:47 PM. |
