Default Raqs Assaya rhythms

Hello....
I know cane dances are usually performed to a Saidi rhythm.... do they always have to be? There is a song on the old Music of the Qaria LP that I was wanting to use for a cane dance, but it is a Beladi rhythm. Would that be a horrible faux pas to use it?????
Thanks in advance for your comments...

I do know Aisha will know for sure, but I've seen a few Assaya pieces done to Beladi music.

There are actually, from what I understand, several 'styles' of assaya - and one of those is a balady style assaya.
