I love this paragraph, next to a photo of her in stockings!: "After years of saying “this is not bellydance” about this or that style, critical voices fade away and the maverick artists prevail every single time. So, again, if one cares about her standing among artists, think twice before letting the critic in you utter her judgement"

Agreeed. So often you read articles online and wonder if the person that wrote it dances at all.... Would be good to see the performance of the writer next to the one he/she is reviewing...LOL

But at the same time to "practice extreme caution and discretion" would be nice for certain dancers as well...LOL Although I think she refers more to personal attacks and 'critisizing' to promote themselves....

Hey Neon if you are reading this, SMILE you are in candid camera....LOL :

There is a huge discussion on this on Bhuz....for those of you who aren't aware. And some very interesting points raised.

I havent read the article yet but I did have alook at Bhuz and got the gist of it. I am sure the writer of this article is a seasoned forum viewer or how else could she know so much about the workings of it?
I think many people would like to shut the people up on these forums and here's why, people review things and information gets around fast so people do not have the power to pull the wool over other peoples eyes without being exposed. It is an amazing source of information. people dont mind seeing their name here as wonderful but as soon as the critics starts then that is another matter.

Kharis, You make many many good points on the Bhuz discussion in relation to this article. I agree with a vast majority of it and I thought it was very well said.

I just started to read it and gave up.
I think she should of listened to herself, as in my opinion she has done herself alot of damage writing this.
She makes some good points but her bad ones will be there forever.

I just read the article in full. She makes some good points, but I'm trying to understand (but failing to) exactly what she is trying to say.
The thought struck me that it is somewhat ironic to promote oneself as a professional, therefore suggesting it's 'inappropriate' to express an opinion via a forum, while at the same time writing quite a lengthy article that most definitely expresses several opinions.

Yes, I noticed that one too!

Actually, I think she made many really good, thought-provoking points. It's funny, in places I could almost pinpoint the thread she'd been reading here !
