Caroline A, I totally understand. On the other hand, I have always been told I live too much with my head in the clouds. So I guess it's natural that even dancing, where you have to be in your body, I can manage to continue in my intellectual/imaginative/spiritual/interpretive way of being ...
![]() This reminds me of an exchange I recently had with a friend while we were driving in her car. Me: So, actually, archetypes are constructed in our own cultures, and they're not universal at all ... She: Look, there's a dog! Me: ...which means that when we think of the mother goddess, we're not thinking of something universal, just something that resonates in our own culture ... She: That's a really big dog! Me: ... so the whole Goddess thing exists in the here and now, and if we only recognized that ... She: I wonder where its master is. It has a collar but not a leash. Me: ...we wouldn't have all this crazy history on the Internet. She: Yeah, that's right. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank god for all types of people in this world! (Or ... thank the Goddess ... )

![]() Me too! I am always 'day dreaming too' this is what I call my little escape routine. For me, dance and creating is a form of 'Photosynthesis'. I can take my negative energy, channel it and expel as something good. A few years back I performed a drum solo (in a production I wrote) to a real soundtrack of bombs and bullets. It was disturbing but it was meant to be. It still contained a very definant and victorious energy for me. |

The piece was called Cafe Medina and was about the life of a small Middle Eastern cafe. There was acting (like mime)/dance, live music and soundtrack. I wrote it for the 2003 Arab Arts Festival and it was filmed by a friend who was one of the actors in it. He then sent a copy to Iraq where it ended up as a clip on Kurdish TV. I have never seen it again since.
I was dressed all in Black with fairly low key lighting with the occasional flashes like gunfire. The soundtrack was created for me on computer by one of the other musicians and I still have it somewhere. I would like to do it again but the context would have to be right of course. |

Dear Shanazel, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! I used to belong to a dance company who had a stuffed frog as our spiritual leader. She was an Ultra Cosmic Muffin. She had a aura about her, and also some beads and frippery and stuff. Her name was Fatima the Green ( a very spiritual color with much religious and metaphysical significance). Her logo statement was: "FATIMA THE GREEN- She Shakes, She Quakes, She Croaks!" She would have won in every category except maybe the one where you have to play sagat. She sucked at that. Dear Belly_dancer, I don't know, I kind of like the idea of a double drunk....not sure how it would work, but then, I feel the same way about the internet, theoretical physics and flying reindeer, all in which I passionately believe. Regards, A'isha |
