El Leila El Kibera is an old puppet operette, written by legendary Salah Gahin and composed by Arabic music pioneer Sayed Mekkawi. In 2002 a new show was performed at the Cairo Opera House, this time with real dancers, and a full orchestra.
The moulid is a celebration of a holy person, it is celebrated by Muslims and Christians in Egypt to honor the saints. El Leila El Kibera, the Big Night, is the highlight and final day of moulid celebrations. Vintage El Leila El Kibera puppet show: This was the new show performed by the Cairo Ballet Company, directed by Abdel Mon3em Kamel. The puppet is great, and let us not forget the PERSON who is moving the puppet! This show brings back childhood memories, I used to watch it over and over and over.... I never got sick of it. Unfortunately, the puppets theaters are not like they used to be... children nowadays are only interested in watching anime cartoons......... and music videos Part 2 from the ballet. The duration of the show is 40 minutes. I'll post the remaining parts soon, including the belly dancer's part in the end ![]() |
