Default Belly dance blunders

We had this on the old forum, but lets start a new one up. Any blunders lately?

I dodn't have any new ones luckily, but I can tell about my old ones. One of the things happening fairly often was slipping when wearing shoes. I'm an absolute dumbo when it comes to dancing and wearing shoes. No matter what type of shoes, I always slip. So I don't do it anymore, but it does have it's dangers.

The other blunder was a popping bra, horror oh horror. I was lucky it happened at the end of a show when I was leaving the stage so no one saw, but I felt so bad!

The pants I wear when I teach slide on my hips, no matter how tightly I tie the string in the waistband. The other day, I moved to the back of the class room to watch my beginning students from behind and to let them practice shimmying following without me. I continued to practice along with them, thinking I was out of their direct line of sight, but they must've kept their eyes on me in the mirror instead of on themselves. My pants took a downward slide, and I hitched them up without thinking about it. Every single dancer in the room grabbed her hip sash and tugged up on it. I nearly died laughing and had to explain that the upward tug was not a new variation on a shimmy. It took us five minutes to calm down and get back to work.

Gosh too many. Where do I start??

Biggest blunders I have commited were not choosing the right venues to dance. Once I was booked to dance for a private wedding party. So I have preapred to dance with a veil also to do shamadan. I never knew that it was an outdoor event. I was wearing double circle chiffon skirts and 4 yard veil, beleive me it was like taking off in a hot air balloon!!!! The wind was soo bad that day. I danced with Shamadan and candles minus the light!!! LOL. We learn from experiences!!! From then onwards I make sure I ask about details of the venue I am going to dance!!!!

It is a bummer of a blunder (so to speak).

Blunder means awkward mistake.

My most recent blunder was a train wreck of a performance at our local Cabaret - I managed to get my toes tangled in a string skirt (or fringe skirt some call them). No fixing that without breaking form. But that was the least of the problems - the sound system kept crapping out multiple times, etc, etc. I was *SO* glad to get off stage!

Ah, toes. I have double nails on my little toes, and sometimes the smaller of the nails sticks up a tiny bit. I was dancing on carpet (yuck) one time and caught the small nail on a loop of carpet and tore it completely off. Try and tell me I'm not willing to bleed for my art...

Lol, Lydia, you must really love your scanner.

Shanazel, those things I see happening in my class also and I've done it myself as well. when the students are closely following the teacher's dancing, sometimes she might take her hair out of her face, adjust her hipscarf/piece of clothing. We good girls follow along obediently, touching our hair, adjusting clothing... I love those moments

My blunders hmm? I have quite a bit lol. While dancing at a nursing home my chiffon skirts got tangled up in the wheel of somebody's wheelchair. I didn't notice until I felt my skirt being tugged down, Happily I could grab hold of it before being left in nothing but my boxers and bedlah..

Hit my toe quite hard once while performing in a big venue with a catwalk in the middle. At some point we had to get back up on the catwalk, do a short finale and then leave, the other two dancers doing the same. I knocked my foot to the side of the catwalk and bled.

While in a troupe veildance, we had a last turn before the ending where some of the dancers twirled around eachother to switch places. The dancer I was supposed to switch places with turned in the wrong direction. I didn't see that one coming and we crashed into eachother.

While canedancing in bedlah the curl at the end of my cane got caught up in my skirt, was tugging gently, tugging harder, smiling madly and moving about not to draw attention but it ws too late. Took me ages to get it loose.

While dancing at restaurant terrace improvising with my troupe during a summer festival at some point the dancers were signalled to come back inside for the end of the set. Guess what? I missed the signal. I was happily dancing along and somehow I turned around and nearly panicked not seeing the other dancers out there anymore. Moved towards the entrance of the restaurant and managed to spot my teacher waving madly at me to come in. The other dancers had been inside for quite a while...

Theres more where that came from lol.
