Are ALL of the South American girls beautiful???
Anyway, at first I thought she was going to do some American cabaret dance in her thobe. So much hand movements and a lot of undulation. Actually the Arab girls would probably not even be dancing at that point in the music. Her movements are too big, she covers too much space, she is too smooth. She needs to calm down and move smaller and not toss her head quire so much. It is a common mistake, I think!

how can this be stop then? what u guys think? if programs at school dont change and keep on giving this sort of info one is always end up being the fool...

Dear Eugenia,
The best way to stop it is to educate yourself to the correct dances through finding a teacher that can teach the dance and by studying videos of natives, etc. then people can begin to learn the ethnic dance as it is in paces or origin.

I'd like to add a few things... actually I've got something to say about the choice of music! Nawal Al Zoghbi isn't fit to sing Khaleegi and we don't consider her songs to be so. Singing in arabian gulf dialects is very difficult and one cannot just change the "a" for "g" and say it's now become Khaleegi... the only way a lebanese singer would get away with this if she had tremedously great vocals to make up for it, which she (Nawal) doesn't. Also, I can hardly hear any Khaleegi rhythms in this song. It was a hit like 9-10 years ago, but today it's almost forgotten and no one really considers it to be "a classic". It is a very modern song, yet the dance movements and traditional costume the dancer here is wearing are all very "old school". Also, like A'isha said this isn't a choreographed dance. Yes the videos I posted here involved mostly choreographies (by the way, videos were put up by youtube user NiceQ8i), and that's because nearly 30 dancers are on stage at the same time! Imagine if they were allowed to improvise, it would look like one big mess. And that was a national event, so they are kind of supposed to be organized and dance in a more serious way. I'll keep posting any more good videos that I am able to find on youtube... there's so much crap out there I know.
