Heyas,
About the Jewel of Yorkshire. I was wondering if anyone was going? Or had been before? This will be my first time going and no one will go with me, lol. I don't think anyone is going from my class either, so I'll need some friends lol. Does anyone know anything about the teachers? They are... Teachers at the Jewel of Yorkshire Event. |

hi Sara,
I atended this event a couple times when I lived in the UK and encourage you to go. I think you will have a great time! As far as instructors on the list, the following are the ones I have studied with and can honestly recommend: Sara Farouk -- She is a great instructor and has a nice way of presenting both technique and feeling. She often gives great translations to the songs she uses and presents them in such a way that you really feel that music. Khaled Mahmoud -- He is amazing! Not only is he an excellent dancer and instructor, he is very sweet and encouraging to all his students. I think he has come up before on this forum (several people commented about what it is like to study with him. Luckily I think his name was in the subject line, so you may be able to search the archives.) Tracey Gibbs -- She is also amazing. Though based in Manchester, she has traveled and studies extensively so she really knows her stuff. She has excellent technique and a passion for this dance. You can't go wrong with any of the three I mentioned, based on the 3-5 workshops I have taken with each of them. There are a few on the list I have not studied with and would love to, but I can't comment on what they are like. It looks like you have some great options-- I think I am turning green with envy! |

Cheers!
I am really excited about going. It should be great. Plus I met the band that usually plays there Magrihibeat (sp?) only this Saturday gone by and I LOVED them! They taught me a bit of one of the drums they had. Absolutely lovely! |

Hi Sara
I'm going to a Shafeek workshop on Sunday so will report back (you may have to PM me to remind me though ). I've seen him dance and he looks fun.Khaled - . Goes through choreographies very fast (and I've never been at a level where I can get much of it), but you get to repeat things enough that some of it sticks, and it's all very good stuff. |

Ooh cheers Aniseteph.
I've heard alot about Khaled. People say he's very light and soft, but I int sure what it means. I know this sounds stupid, but it'll be a bit scary with all these professionals around. I'll be like.... Lol. |

Hi sara, i really wanted to go but looking at my timetable i cannot make it. Im bitterly disappointed cos tito is going to be there and from the video clips i have seen of him he is fantastic!
I have done workshops with khaled, jo wise, anne kingston, kay taylor. All i can recommend. Khaled is an exceptional dancer. Dont worry about going on your own, there is a great atmosphere and if you stay for the weekend and see the show im sure that you will come away inspired. Have a great time! |

I'm only off for the first day cause I only live 8 miles away or so but I'll be there for the show.
I can't wait to see the dancers performing. I'm really impatient for that. Also I can't wait to meet lots more dancers from the Uk n all. ![]() I want to go to so many of the workshops and there's only so many you can do cause they clash, lol. |
