I do so agree about Google and Orientaldancer, I don't have much to add. But another important one for me is
http://scholar.google.com/ (for scientific articles) and www.msn.com (not really the website, but the chat program you can dowload there )and one I like is www.hathayogalesson.com (but I don't visit it very often) I think everyone noticed that orientaldancer.net is my favourite website at the moment :p Bellydance really changed my life (to the better!) |

Google--what would I do without it!
www.skype.com free internet phone www.dictionary.com I use it all the time www.limewire.com supposedly...you can download music and video with this. Since that's not really legal I would not know much about it's effectiveness... |

I would add
The Gutenberg Project It is the oldest (I think) totally free online book source. All the material on it is COPYRIGHT FREE and is not formatted so you can open it in any text reader/whatever (notepad/wordpad/etc). All material is provided by volunteers around the world. Currently they have 19,000 titles like The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll.....as well as non-fiction like The Communist Manifesto and Hand Shadows to be Thrown on the Wall! Because they're straight text, they download SUPER fast! I got Sense and Sensibilty in 2 minutes! I love being able to just download an Agatha Christie when I'm bored, or peruse their "Best of" or "Most Popular" lists! ![]() AT YAY, LITERACY!! ...oh! and they're not just in English! Check out the bottom of the page for links to the books in different languages! Last edited by tim'ema; 09-29-2006 at 10:22 AM. Reason: ...not just English... |

Glad folks like the link!
If you go to Gutenberg and go to "Advanced Search", you can search categories other that written, like Audiobook Human read, Audiobook Computer Read, Photos, Films, and recorded music. Stuff like the Apollo Moon Landing film, an audiofile of the Hallelujah Chorus and audio recordings done by Thomas Edison ...very cool! ![]() AT |
