If I was hungry and had nothing to eat other than insects, yep I would eat them, if they tasted like chocolate or not. The trick to it I suppose, is to imagine you are eating a dried date. You'd have to pull the legs and antennae off first.

Do they just taste like chocolate but still have slimy guts or is the texture like chocolate too?

I try to be pretty adventurous with food when I'm on the road. I have eaten grass hoppers, deep fried of course, when I was in Thailand. But of bugs, that's all I can remember (intentionally) eating. I have two aversions centipedes and roaches. Lord mercy, they both give me the willies. Maybe I should eat one, could be empowering. Deep fried of course.

I would try it, but are they healthy?

I know grasshoppers taste a bit like fish. I think quite a lot of people would actually like the taste.
I still had problems with the idea of eating the intestines too, though. I know what they look like... thank you teacher who put them on my table...

We are totally buggy, you realize that, don't you? At least I assume we are talking about a leggy roach and not the remainder of one of those funny cigarettes. I wouldn't eat a roach (either kind) if it tasted like chocolate covered caramel from the world's finest chocolatier. I might, however, write a book called "Like Roaches for Chocolate."

Er, I think from what I have read, they are not healthy, as they carry many diseases including salmonella and various other nasties. However, in Thailand they eat them, and a western student on a gap year trip to the region ate cock roaches and maggots as a want to try the local food stuffs. Her description was eating a cock roach is like eating a prawn with the shell on, the shell being particularly tough to bite into.
