Arabic loan words in English Language

Just to show, we are not that far apart, the Arabic language has donated many words to the English language. See this website for a list of those words, click on the word and you will be taken to the original meaning of that word, and the Arabic script of that word.

Hi khanjar, this is interesting I went though Quickly but I had to think twice if the word originally English or Arabic, going back to the Arabic rout of the word. The word Magazine was a bit Shocking to me

Ah, inventions and conquests of science ;

Coffee, soap, chess, distillation, combination lock, crankshaft, valves and pistons, surgical instruments to include hollow needles, fountain pen, the technique of inoculation, the windmill, three course meal, carpets, the cheque and it's process (from the word saqq), algorithms, much of trigonometry, basis of cryptology, gunpowder as a weapon, dome building techniques, ribbed vaulted arch, gothic arch, camera obsccura, (camera from the arabic word for darkened or private room).
