After reading another thread, where two people shared their Myers-Briggs profile, I thought it might be interesting to see what others come out as - and whether it actually reflects YOU!!
I'm supposedly INTJ although I'm about in the middle of the T and F... I'm really comfortable with the IN part - that means that I love being around people but find it exhausting and need to have regular time out from talking and putting my energy OUT, sort of needing inner reflection time... I'm also comfortable with Intuition - which to me is all about processing information in a nonverbal way rather than verbal... But I don't get the T or F, and I'm not entirely comfortable with the J part!! And I don't think it 'gets' me nearly accurately enough for all the different contexts that I live in (work, cyberspace, home, intimate, family, social...) If you don't know your profile, you can get a gist of it by going to one of the many sites (eg Personality test based on Jung - Myers-Briggs typology or Myers Briggs: Questionnaires and Online Resources ) - and the second one has some good articles on what they mean. Do you think it's accurate? Do you like the profile idea? Do the boxes fit you?

Also we can change throughout our lives. When I was 23 I was an INFP At 40 I am an INTP. This framework used to be used alot in personnel but now some schools use another method similar to MB Certain professions are suited to personality types so it also tells you if you are in the wrong job and makes you realise why you hated it so much!!! |

![]() I did the first one, came out INTJ, followed the links to read the descriptions and eek! that's me! (apart from I don't seem to be achieving quite as much as Stephen Hawking or Hillary Clinton... ). I wonder if it's like those horoscope experiments where they give everyone the same one but pretend it's tailored to their starsign or birth chart, and eveyone goes OMG that's ME! Must have a look at the others ![]() Then I did the second one and it came out completely different, lots of possibles all scoring about the same. And I was really aware for that one that the answers depended what area I was thinking about - I don't think the work me is the same as the bellydancer me! |

Hahaha, this came up on my last team away day, I'm an ENTJ, which feels about right really.
I did a year of psychology at uni & for any psychology bods our professor was professor Eysenck (sp) so we did a lot on personality testing. They are interesting tools but need to be interpreted with caution. I like Myers Briggs because its explanation of introvert/extrovertism is much better than 'outgoing & confident v social outcast', like many other tests seem to sell it! But I find some of the other categories a bit woolly. Would you guess belly dancers are a particular profile or do you think we are quite diverse? neither answer would surprise me so would be interested to know your views!

I had a boss who couldn't plan a week in advance or make decisions to save her soul. Her Myers-Briggs score said something about her always wanting to keep options open. Well it helped me to know that she had a tendency to not want to make decisions (thereby closing off options) but it didn't help the chaos that formed around someone who refused to decide what her employees should be doing! People have been shown to score differently depending on if they were taking the test in a work frame of mind or a family frame of mind. Marya |

I'm a psychologist, so I interpret any of these standardised tests with a good deal of caution - and the ones you get online like this are NOT the psychometrically valid ones that you usually have to pay for...! BUT having said that, I'm curious just to see how other people see it.
Eshta I'm incredibly jealous that you had Prof Eysenck because he is one of the personality guru's!! I guess the main shortcoming for me is that I do act very differently in different settings. For example at home I'm quite rowdy and bossy, and at work I'm also quite noisy, while if you get me in a bar - you'd be lucky to even see me sitting at the back all on my ownsome...! And I put on a different personality when I'm dancing (and always have done) and as I put the costume and makeup on, I can feel that part of my personality start to wake up!! Anyone else have that experience?

Hey Reen! I'm the same, INFJ. Alhough I am INFP as well. About the same percentage for both. I'm a designer and artist and both those careers were suggested so maybe I ended up in the right place despite the ever present doubts
