I have experienced a tipping point where as the make up goes on I feel more and more like a "real dancer" rather than a frumpy baby boomer with a hobby. Marya |

Dear Adiemus, Is this the one were there were literally hundreds and hundreds of questions, often the same question put in different wording, so that eventually the evaluator could see patterns of answers, rather than one simple answer? ( I could be wrong, its been years since I took any psyche courses.) I took the first test and came out INFJ. ( Introverted, intuitive, feeling, judging) I would say that very few people might KNOW that I am an introvert because I have trained myself not to be, but in reality that is accurate, I am also intiutive and sensitive to other peoples' feelings, though again there are times when others might be unaware of that. I am judgmental and feel that intelligent people use their judgment regularly to decide what is right and wrong, etc, in order to survive here. I USED to be an idealist, but no more. Life teaches us a thing or two about that after awhile. I am also much more aware of when someone is spouting off with bulls--t than I used to be now that I am not so idealistic. The innocence that makes room for idealism has been replaced with a keener sense of reality. I am not sure of the accuracy, but supposedly that makes me an Idealist Counselor in type. I would not trust the profile to be accurate at the number of questions that were available, but perhaps the entire phychological battery of tests as given under the supervision of a psychologist would be a different matter. Regards, A'isha |

A'isha, not it's not that one (that's the MMPI or variants), this one is based on Jung's work on personality types - although what he wrote of has been pretty well superceded, but the Myers-Briggs lives on!!
The full Myers-Briggs is only slightly longer - I think what makes the difference when a psychologist gives it to you is that they help work through the interpretation of the results, and can help you identify the 'shadow' or opposite aspects of your personality that you can develop to both enhance your communication and develop flexibility in interactions. Like you I often get mistaken for being an extrovert, but it's about where I get my energy from which is when I'm alone and just pondering....

My inner belly dancer is there all the time but under a really heavy veil. It's just having the confidence to drop the veil and go for it, and I love that enough that I don't care if people think I'm a real dancer or a bit daft. Early ballet training has given me a mindset that being a "real dancer" is something frightfully dedicated that is just not me. ![]() |

Dear Adiemus, Ahhh, thanks for setting me straight on that. I could not remember for sure about the long test, etc. I agree about having a psychologist involved in the process for more accurate assessment! I think you are right about maybe getting your energy from being alone and pondering. I find that I require a lot of alone time also. Interesting, I never thought about it being as sort of place where I get my energy for being a person who needs to be extroverted, but that woul;d make very good sense. Regards, A'isha |

It's a common misperception that being introvert means you don't like being around people - I shine when I'm in a group (provided that it's not a bar or social place where I don't know people), but I NEED my time out, and after a social event I find I always need to have at least the same amount of time on my own as the time I've spent with others.
