I have Ver. 2.0.0.1.4 usually FF tells me when a new one is available so far it hasn't. Don't want to install if it is problematic though. I use FF all the time. I only use explorer when I have to go to MS site for any reason and MS has a hissy fit when you try to download with FF or anything other than Explorer.

Dear Gang,
Yikes, is there something I should know????????????? SAY IT ISN'T TRUE!!! I have Firefox. One of my computer people put me on Firefox and Mozilla, I think it is called. I get a little panicky if I think ANYTHING is going to change in my computer because I am not very good at all this technical stuff. I just may have to sit here and weep if anything new is happening.... Regards, the Queen of the Techno-morons, A'isha |

I had "quite the adventure" with FF 3 on my two Macs (one at home, one at work). It turns out that FF 3 quietly discontinued support for OSX 10.3.9 (Panther), and requires 10.4.x (Tiger) as a minimum now. I didn't notice this and stupidly overwrote my old FF 2.0.14 - then had a horrible time downgrading again as I didn't discover the problem until AFTER my auto-backup ran. Stupid on my part - but WHY did the dump Panther support? Yea, its in the release notes which I should have looked at, but it would have been nice if the download link said "No Panther" or something similar.
And because I stupidly didn't have a backup, finding a copy of 2.0.14 was virtually impossible - 3.0 spread like wildfire and NO-ONE had 2.0.14 for download. I *FINALLY* found 2.0.6 somewhere, installed it, then let it auto-upgrade to 2.0.14. AARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!! I also note that they've apparently discontinued support for WinBloze 95/98 also - I haven't tried it on my old Win 98 laptop yet. Thanx Mozilla... |

Ah, Mozilla Firefox is ok, certainly better than Microshafts offering anyway. I used Opera for years, now that was fast, but for whatever reason, I am now on Firefox, and am happy enough with it.
One feature I just got to recommend is this ; PicLens | Immersive Views Across the Web Try the demo on the site . I have it on my browser, and it puts a whole new dimension into the onerous job of searching images in Google. With Myspace galleries, it really is good. And it is particularly excellent when used on Youtube.

Ah A'isha, I do understand your fears with computers and the net, I was the same myself till two years ago. Yes, until two years ago, I had never used a computer other than a Sinclair ZX81, and the internet was a mythical realm to me. But like all things, the only way to overcome fears and inexperience, is to just get on with it, at some point having got on with it you will arrive at the point where you wonder what all the fuss and worry was about.
So with an old computer, these past couple of years I forced myself to learn and adopt the technology of most of the civilised world with computers, I purposely messed my comp up with viruses and all manner of malware, as an experiment in gaining confidence. I gained confidence by seeking out techie forums and asking questions, there searching the net for programmes to kill the viruses I had got on purpose. I managed to totally clean up my machine. This taught me, though caution is needed on the net, nothing cannot be repaired and often repaired for free by yourself. Help is always available. Odd lot techies, they love problems, it makes their day and they love helping others, in fact a lot of the serious clean up programmes out there are freeware, created by said techies, the angels of the net perhaps. If you run XP or Vista, 'piclens' works fine and is no problem what so ever, if you want it, just click to download and follow the instructions, easy really. If you want the programme, go on give it a try, and there revel in how good you feel for taking that step forward. Of course you know, anything dodgy or possibly harmful to your computer, your computer security software will detect it and let you know

Dear Khanjar,
I think you have talked me into it. I have Vista, rebuilt since my HP computer imploded or something about month ago. If I am successful, I will let you know and come back to thank you for the vote of confidence!! Regards, A'isha |

I'll wait I think until Firefox tells me to upgrade... They usually do when it's time!
I've been using Firefox for a year now, much more stable than microsoft - and I like the fact that people put wonderful new add-ons that make internet browsing so much more fun! I just checked my update button thingy on Firefox and it tells me there is no update - are you sure it's not an internet hoax?
