Hello everybody

After reading about the latest Firefox I have downloaded it to my computer, Its quite flashy and comes with too many switches. I also see the lay outs for many sites look a bit different to the previous version.

Dear Aisha,

I know it could be a challenging task doing something different in your computer, but as Khanjar said, just do it , mess it up and always copy or write down the error messege if you get one. Then google the messege and you will find solutions for the problem.

This is a little guide for the people who want to do many things on their computer but don't know where to start.

The 10 essential components for your computer and they all are free!

GIMPShop - A good programme to manipulate pictures / enhancing / editing etc etc .

Google desktop - Customised desktop with search link to files etc.

Google Picasa - Create your own Album

VLC - You can watch almost any video formats.

Winzip - To extract big files or files with zip extension.

Notepad -

AVG Anti-Virus - Free Antivirus

Paint.net - Another creative software

Filezilla - This is what you can use to build an website.

printdesktop - FRee print screen, You can capture anything in your computer screen as jpeg/bmp formats.

google the word ( eg notepad ) to find their download sources.

Woohoo! Thanks for the list Dipali! I'm not sure I'll ever do anything like build a website (I blog using Wordpress!), but it's good to know there is still FREE STUFF out there!

Default Computer, etc.

Dear Dipali,
Wow, thanks for the good advice and list of helpful programs. I LOVE AVG and have had it since my very first computer when Terry ousted another antivirus out of there that I was paying for.
Regards,
A'isha

PS: You had asked about when my Egyptian journal was going to be on my site. I am sending it to Terry today. I am trying to put just a few photos in it and having a time with spacing them and the words.

I use AVG on my home computer , recently I upgraded to 8 and I am having some problem with it, Often when I start the Computer I see AVG database is outdated. Aisha did you delete the old version before initializing AVG 8.?
It could be my computer though.

Regards

Ddar Dipali,
.... I think it deleted itself. My computer had to turn itself off to get the new program to click in or whatever, I think. The only problem that I had was that for some reason I had to set the time for the program to run a couple of times before it would do it on its own, but it could well have been me not knowing what I was doing, too.
Regards,
A'isha

I am on the old AVG, the one prior to number 8, I have eight downloaded, but I am according to Vista missing an update, so cannot load yet. I have heard there may be a few bugs in AVG 8.0, so, me being me, I will wait till the last minute to decide what to do.

Mind, for the first time since I have been using AVG free, some three years, it picked up a virus which it was unable to heal, that now sits in the virus vault, I hope, causing no harm, maybe update to 8.0 would be a good idea, sooner rather than later.
