Dear Khanjar,
It's wonderful and looks really strong and well finished, if that is the correct term!
Regards,
A'isha

Well, I can't download anything any more since I still operate on dial-up. Wireless here is iffy, too many trees and hills.

Aisha, I just wanted to say that you use your computer more than I do and I am totally impressed that you can use some of the software you have like the music editing stuff. I may know more about word processing than you do but you know more than I about some other stuff.

In today's environment with software changing on a daily basis no one except the people who spend 24/7 working on this kind of thing can keep up.

Aisha, just back up regularly and proceed without trepidation.

Dear Marya,
When I can really, REALLY work my Acid program so that I can do tracks, fade in and out on it, set levels without giving myself an anxiety attack, THEN I will consider myself somewhat proficient in the program, but thanks for The vote of confidence! At least I can currently get all those old tapes onto CD before they rot away. You were extremely helpful in showing me how to more effectively use ITunes for making show CDs!
I am not even sure how to back up my work, but my computer might be doing it anyway as tom was able to restore some stuff after the big Motherboard meltdown of May, 2008.

Dear Mosaic,
Thanks for being there!!

Regards to you both,
A'isha

You are way more competent than me in your music programme - but perhaps we all have specific skills and knowledge in specific programmes?? I do a whole lot in Photoshop (see my Flickr page for examples Flickr: adiemus' Photostream ), and when it comes to actually using Powerpoint and Word, I'm reasonably good - but give me any actual programming stuff (like where you save files, and what memory allocation and all that stuff) leave it to the pro's I say!! I just have four external hard drives to save everything, and cross my fingers and hope nothing goes wrong.....!!

Dear Adiemus,
I can save pictures now, but that's about the extent of my talents in the photo area. I can SOMETIMES stick them in a document. I just got done proofreading my journal from Egypt and I inserted a few photos. I asked Terry, who runs my website to put it in the library there and we will see if I actually managed to get everything to her in one piece or what. There is no way that I could put it on my site by myself.
My fantasy view of what happens is that information is "beamed" into places, kind of like the original Star Trek people were beaned up and down from the ship. I can honestly say that I have the technology, but do not know how to use it!
Regards,
A'isha

Well Aisha, you are not far off in your fantasy view. Some Science Fiction Author (I think it was Arthur C. Clarke) wrote that a "sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from Magic"

I myself prefer the fantasy of invisible gremlins.

I understand your fear of computers, but you saying that you can 'sometimes' insert a photograph into a document, is well ahead of me, I can't, yet.

Nor can I work out the powerpoint thing, though I will have to learn for this coming year at college.

My skills were all about trying to keep a nine year old computer built out of discarded parts running, as that was all I could afford to have at the time. But I did learn with it. The trouble is, what I learned of that system, is a bit different from this modern NFTS system. Most of my troubles with Vista, is because I am trying to run it like I would with Win 98, old habits dying hard.

Interestingly, when I had an unfathomable problem with my old system, I could go online and the answer would be there. With Vista, I go online, and there are a lot of clueless people around, thus proving Vista, so far is an enigma, and a BIG enigma to me.

One thing I do like though, is the ability to 'roll back' to a time things were working for those times I mess it up. Mind, that could be done in Win 98 as well, but was not as easy.

My thoughts at the moment are, my old system, win 98 was far more tolerant and stable than this racehorse Vista.

Dear Khanjar,
Do you think we would get any support for bringing back Windows 98???? Bill Gates actually only lives a couple of hundred miles from me and I know some musicians that played for one of his parties. ( Just call me nearly a friend of the almost famous!!!). Maybe if we went over to visit him and brought along some "persuasion"..... do you suppose he likes chocolate or home grown tomatoes???
Regards,
A'isha

I hear Mr Gates is stepping down from microsoft very soon, going to concentrate on his philanthropic activities, which is admirable. I wonder how microsoft will fare then and thereafter, better or worse.

Jokingly maybe now is a good time to go?
