Think that not all the programs run well on it yet, besides having one with XP and one with Vista also quite a confusion. Dont think it is worth the struggle YET.

Actually I love Vista, I also have a computer with XP, but I really love vista. Took a few weeks to get the hang of it, and had to upgrade a couple of programs, but the upgrades were free from the manufacturers, and one program I 20/20 didn't work, so i wrote to the guy who created it and he told me to run the prog as "adminstrator' by right clicking it and clicking on admin and it works fine. I do that for any programs I have probs with now. I have had Vista since October last year. I am still finding out things, and when I first went to word I was muttering away about it as I couldn't find how to open file. You have to click on the windows avatar in left top corner. I just thought it was the MS decorative Avatar LOL! The only thing that isn't working yet, because I haven't got around to going to the website is my webcam. I seldom use it so haven't bothered ... but must do it. Probably just needs a Vista driver.

I have a 24" screen as well that is fabulous! Love to watch BD DVDs on it, better than TV!

Dear Khanjar,
I have Windows Vista in a new HP computer. It WAS in a little tower, but, after only 1 1/2 years something inside it burned up and I had to have the motherboard rebuilt.... or something like that. At least that is what I was told by the computer guys. One day I woke up and the damned thing would not let me in. It had been acting a little strange for awhile, but I always think its ME, since I am a complete computer moron. I have Tony,Terry, and Tom who are my personal "Geek Squad". Tony and Tom both love Vista and Terry likes XP more. I like Windows 98 myself and wish it was back. I at least felt like it understood me, whereas these later versions seem to think I am too beneath their intelligence levels.... and they are right, but hey, I learn something new every year or so and Vista should have patience with that instead of blowing its own mind with my incredible stupidity!! And don't EVEN try to tell me that my computer is not a sentient being. If I threaten to call one of the mean babysitters ( also known as the Three Ts), that usually solves most problems.
Regards,
A'isha

Aisha, where is your Avatar picture and what's with your profile?
When I click to view your profile it says "This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view." I am confused....

Hahaha, to that, I have to agree, I get the feeling the computer is in control, not me, something which is totally different to my favourite OS, that being win 98 se and do wish that kind of simplicity was back. Maybe that could be why I struggle with Vista, I am insulting it with trying to use it like my old friend win 98

The best thing I have found about Vista, is it is very secure, nothing seems to get through the security, except updates from M$, which usually just mess the system up, the latest being I have lost is sound which sort of ruins my Youtube explorations. A fault that has got HP support scratching their head, a common fault it seems, due to M$ not having the right drivers yet.

I have, I have been told, an unusual machine in that it was designed for XP, but was upgraded to accept Vista and so has Vista loaded, some of the Vista updates fail due to the XP part of the system, just typical I thought, just my luck.

I don't care about all the techie bits, all I wanted was a computer that does what is expected of it and no more.

Never really thought about it. I tend to replace icons with those of my own making. But vista doesn't have my computer, I just looked it just says 'computer'. I didn't make new icons for computer, or control panel this time as they are quite classy.

When I bought this computer because of all the 'sacry stories going around about vista i actually asked for XP but the model I bought from Dell wasn't designed for XP and because i really wanted that particular model I bought it with Vista business, As I said previously took a couple of weeks to work some things out, but I love vista, it really is amazing, transfering data etc from xp to thenew 'puter was an absolute breeze not like transferring from 98 to XP at all, and things like auto back up, are great, you don't have to remember you set when you want to do it and it works quietly in the background, same with defrag and things like that. The media centre is better than TV and I for one am very happy I changed to Vista. I seem to be the only one here who likes it though
