I attended the CapitalWoman conference in London: capitalwoman 2008

The opening speeches were preceded by a short film by young writer/director Alex Kalymnios: "Her four-minute piece is a series of fast-paced clips spliced together showing ordinary London women at work in their real jobs, whether doctors, police officers, office workers or mums. And while working they slowly start moving in time to a beat, gradually getting more adventurous in their movements, until by the end they are dancing with abandon. Alex said 'When I thought of the idea I didn't want trained dancers or actors but ordinary London women. I wanted to celebrate the capital's women using the medium of dance and to show the rhythm of London through them'"

It was a great little film and I was delighted to see a woman in a lab coat belly dancing!

Yes, I'd love to see it again! Yay, belly dance/scientific research fusion!

The day we don't need an International Women's Day to recognize our accomplishments will be the day our accomplishments are truly recognized.
In the meantime, here's to my favorite women in cyberspace.
