I suppose I can brag about my children bringing home stray children. My husband refers to our place as "The Halfway House." Two of my son's friends have parents who periodically kick them out of the house for reasons that seem very odd to me. A friend of my daughter is here for the weekend because her mother is hosting a low end Bacchanal at their place tonight and the girl doesn't like it when her mom's boyfriends "tease" her. It pleases me that my kids feel like they can bring their friends here, that they want to bring their friends here, and that they aren't looking for refuge themselves despite the slings and arrows of living with two of the world's most exasperating of beasts: parents.

I have two children, a son, 24, and a daughter, 21. The son is working full-time at the moment, and almost has enough money in the bank to be able to enroll in massage therapy college, and my daugher is now going to nursing school, and will be working in a nursing home for a year after graduation. They are both sweet, fun, level-headed, and good-hearted. I couldn't have been blessed more than I am now; I'm so very proud of each of them, as my children, and as the unique adults that they are.
![]() Oh! My daughter picked up bellydancing from my DVD's, but I've yet to talk her into enrolling in class; she thinks she's too "fat." I just wish she'd realize what a beautiful lady she is, inside and out. Last edited by Farasha Hanem; 04-05-2008 at 06:03 AM. |

Shanazel, it is nice that you let them stay with you. Some parents really do not have a clue. I don't understand kicking kids out of the house either.
Sounds like you have wonderful kids What is more important is to know they are good people![]() |

I have an 11 year old and a 9 year old. The oldest is very artistically inclined, music, drawing, etc and tested this year for the International Bacclaureate program. (Letters come out next week. Pray to whomever is handy) and the other gifted programs at school. The 9 year old loves the dance and cant wait to take lessons. She is a perfomer by nature, but doesnt have the instilled confidence in herself that her sister has. Both love to read and are very smart. Beth is..Beth is like wood, rooted to the earth, solid, strong and bends with time and situation. Cate is like water, carving her own way through life. They are sweet and kind, I am blessed to have them.
