Yes, she can be a real doll when she's not busy being The Teenager From Hell.

lol...there is just something about teenagers. One minute they are sweet as pie and the next moment...lol

My son is doing awesome racing! He is placing in the top ten in his category and he will be upgrading to a cat 2 very soon. All the hard work of riding in 20 degree weather through cold winds and rain and sleet and snow have paid off for him. Not to mention all the mornings we were awake at 3 am getting ready to drive 4 hours to races all over Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. He and my husband are going to Milwauke, Wisconsin the last week in July for superweek. Pro cyclists from all over go there to race...Races stretch from Chicago to Green Bay for 2 weeks. Some are road races up to 100 miles long, others being criteriums which go around blocks of a town about 1.3 miles long...They do laps around in criteriums. This is his first time racing in this area and it is a brand new kind of racing for him. Wish him luck and to be safe. Here is the website:

Good for your son! I assume he uses a bicycle and not a motorcycle?? My son started racing quads this summer and has been approached by one sponsor. I have to grit my teeth to keep from protesting at times since it can be so dangerous, but I guess he comes by taking risks honestly- I used to rock climb and cave, and I would hate to recall the chances I took back when.

My daughter prefers horses to quads with wheels. She is off to riding lessons right now, dressed in her cowboy boots, western shirt and jeans. She looks so cute- quite a change from her shorts and crop tops. She played volleyball for years, but the last year or so there has been such intense competition for team positions and such pressure from coaches until it was no longer enjoyable for any of us. I am glad when she had to make the choice that she chose horses!

Awesome Shanazel! It sounds like you have wonderful healthy children. And Yes, my son rides a bike, like Lance Armstrong, Thankgod, not motorcycles.

I'm sure he gives you some heartstopping moments, even on a bicycle! One of the attorneys I work for rides competitively, and has incurred punctured lungs, a broken collar bone, a cracked tibia, and any amount of road rash. After the last punctured lung, I told him if he insisted on piercing lungs, I was going to buy him a stud to wear through his chest in the form of a very large bolt secured by a big wingnut.

There used to be a big bicycle race in Casper, "Run With The Antelopes" that lasted about a week and pulled in participants from all over the country. They discontinued it because preparing for it had become a full time job, and the associated cycling groups couldn't afford to pay anyone. Alas, the race was a victim of its own popularity.

WOW! I will have to tell my son that Shanazel! He also has had many falls, but he has learned to become a bit more safe after his firetruck incident. He is totally focused on watching Tour de France right now. It really is an awesome sport to watch. Maybe your boss and my son should take some safety lessons together? lol

Frankly, I think my boss should use training wheels. Come to think of it, after his last crash, one of the other attorneys bought him a set.

That is hilarious! Cycling can really be a dangerous sport. It only takes a quick second to fall or have something mechanical happen causing a fall. I am glad my son always wears his helmet. At least I have that. Now that my son is turning 19 and has graduated from high school, our insurance company "supposedly" sent a letter to make sure he was still in school to stay on the policy. I didnt get the letter, so we got our insurance card without my sons name on it. I called the insurance company and got it taken care of but SHeesh! You can't be without insurance when you are a cyclist...It is just too risky!

I paid for my son's books today. I am not the proud mother of a college student. I can't believe he is that old already.
