Maria Aya has choreographed this Andalucían styled piece.
I hope it helps with your inspiration…

Just a suggestion but what about Ishtar/Alabina's music (and their work with Los Niños de Sara) and I suppose there might be some ladino style music that could work (mixing the spanish with the east) Yasmin Levy has a few ladino albums out and I know Ofra Haza recorded some ladino tracks for the movie the governess.

Big Grin LIL Question

I have a lil question on this topic ... I was thinking to choreo a performance with a fusion of flamenco , I know this dance for years so its not the dance i need to know ... Its more about the form ... Ok I want to do a fusion of american beledi with flamenco strength like ok ... Lets see 3 min of beledi with a solo almost like drum solo of change in music to pure flamenco for additional 2 min and back into american beledi ... But here is the question .. DO you think that flamenco form is to harsh? THE straight arms and fast pace? Or do you think that this would complement the beledi being so different. Like an extreme effect? Or should I soften it , And slow it down. And make a more romantic flamenco then classic? Because they are so different . ANy info on what you guess think would be great .. But i would like to have an awe effect in this dance like um maybe some one would say wow that was cool. I want it to be diff but not so much so that they say what the ****. lol . So help me a lil.

Nur, I can't stand those routines where people start with one piece of music, then change abruptly to a completely different piece of music. If you are doing a dance, then it needs to make sense as a complete unit (that's my opinion). If you switch music in the middle, it always sounds like you're doing two completely different dances that just happen to have been thrown together.

That's why I am looking for a piece of music that I can use for both styles. I think the surprise of moving from one style to the other within the same piece of music will be more effective.

I think the intended look was something of a “Moorish” dancer (combining Arabo-Andalucían elements of Medieval Spain). Here are a couple of pics (from this site Amel Tafsout)

The choreo starts more flamengo-like, with oriental elements for the first 2 and a half minutes, after which the oriental style becomes more dominant. I am sure Maria Aya can explain it better.

I like to go with the music always.
I cant add flamenco or latin if I cant hear it, and at the song Ya Msafer Wahdak (original sung by Oum Kolthoum music Abdelouahab, grr me and my english-arabic lol) special at the BDDS CD version that used had a very spanish/flamenco sound, at the first part of the song.
Personaly I like a song to have different rythm, and feeling in it, makes it more interesting to dance it, to watch it, to listen to it.

Maria Aya

p.s. ya Samira !!! in 2 weeks I'll be Hania, be prepared

kisses
