My studio just got a contract to dance at a new Turkish restaurant in the area. I danced there for the grand opening to my regular Arabic music set, and the owners liked it, but they asked me to dance to some Turkish music next time. My teacher gave me an Ozel Turkbas CD, and I ordered some other random Turkish bellydance CD online and also an Asena album. So, my Turkish collection right now consists of mostly instrumental traditional sounding music which I plan to use, but I'd also like to throw in some more upbeat, modern crowd pleasers. I've done a lot of searching and much of the Turkish music I've found is techno-y which I don't want. I still want music that will make the Turkish owners and audience happy, but that will also appeal to the American audience (which is about half the customers). Just something that's kind of upbeat but still authentic. Any suggestions?

Modern Turkish music crowd pleasers are very techno. If you want a new Turkish belly dance album it won't be a crowd pleaser because the crowd would most likely have never heard it before. Depending on the crowds general age group you might go with Tarkan for a younger crowd or Aysu Baceoglu.
I don't know what you could use for an older group.

What about Candan Ercetin (unsure of spelling). I have some songs with her that are great and up-beat, without the techno. With her I have:"Dunya durma" and "Sevdim Sevilmedim". I like both a lot. I also found a song by Robert Hatemo called "Niyetimi Bozdum". I don't know if they are suitable for turkish bellydance but they are certainly danceable. I can hardly sit still.
Edit: ok, just a teeny-weeny bit of techno in it but it's not techno-STYLE. here's dunya durma Sevdim sevilmedim There is also Ibrahim Tatlise who has some beautiful songs. This for example: at gitsin
