Default Those beautiful but not-that-widespread pieces of music

Hey guys!

You know when you accidentally find those "hidden", not-so-common pieces of music which turn out to be precious jewels in your music collection? Let's share our favorite non-widespread, not-so-common but beautiful songs. Everyone has those

I have a lot of favorites, but the first one that comes to mind is Khokha by Rico, it's sooo cool

Default Not so well known songs

Dear Yasnina,
I am currently working on dancing to a song by Hani Mehenna, called Nass Leha Bakt, .... I think. I am understanding some of the words, but I need to get it to one of my freinds for a good translation. The music is to die for beautiful; very complex, lots of changes, lots of different feelings, and the singer's voice is amazing. I THINK it might be Mahenna's ex-wife, but I need to find out more.
Regards,
A'isha

Dear A'isha,

The very first bellydance video I ever saw was Nagwa Fouad dancing to Mashaal . I remember the song touched me more than her dancing...

I'm curious: who is his ex-wife?

Dear Yasmina,
Wasn't that video fabulous??? I loved her costume, though she moved so very well to that music, etc. It was one of the few time when I fully apprecaited what Nagwa Fouad was doing. She is generally not one of my favorite dancers, to be honest, but in that video, she was great!! I danced to that music for about 10 years straight and I still am not tired of it!!! Now my students are working with it. His version is the best!
Anyway, he was married to a Moroccan singer whose name escapes me this morning for some reason. She has an incredible voice and he wrote music for her.
Regards,
A'isha

Dear A'isha,

Nagwa Fouad isn't one of my favorite dancers either, but that video left a huge impact when I saw it for the first time and I still love it! And the music = WOW! I hope to be able to dance to it one day!

I'm sorry, Q-tip, I have no idea...And I have no access to YouTube at the moment. Try searching by "Meshaal" or "Mashaal" and "Fouad"...If you don't know the music, you can download the music first, so it will be easy to recognize it in the video, if the title of the song is not mentioned (so you can just search by "Nagwa Fouad" and watch her videoclips until you find the one we're talking about). Hope it'll work out!

I am also trying to dance on obscure Bellydance music...which is in general not composed for bellydancing. My favorite singer is Abdel Halim Hafez and his repertoire is like Aladdin's cave...so many jewels!!!

I always dance from a piece of music never from "this time I'll do a saidi / beledi / fusion dance"

But because I like wacky stuff, I think I'm building up my own style...at least no one has ever turned up with the same piece of music in the same show !!!

My boyfriend and I are music lovers and record collectors so there are always some old stuff to listen to and re-discover !

I've noticed that some clever people in America or Lebanon have been going through the same process except that when they reliese an album, they don't say that the tracks were taken from other records ... unfortunately the music industry in the Middle East is not as well protected as in Western countries

98 videos for "nagwa" (possibly more)

What's the name of the song? Is it "Mashaal?"
