Hi Samsied...the album is called,, fire dance,, track 13 ,,spirit of the ancestors,, and track 3 ,,call for prayer,,
Than on another album,,celestial harmonies,, track 12...,,al fatiha,,all this tracks are related to the religion....it is kind of a problem for Moslim, because it is said that prayers and the coran verses are not to be mixed with music,so that is why arabic people get upset about it sometimes.....
there is another 1 on 1 of these cd ...that is the tricky one i believe because the tune is far in the background but i have to realy listen to all the tracks good to find it back
But if you listen to the tracks above you can hear what it sounds like it will be always similair to this.....during this week i will try to find the other track.....have a nice day Lydia

Sad

I am in the middle of a similar musical blunder! In my ignorance (and I use that as gently as possible) I was playing Kurdish music at the Arabic restaurant that I dance for... The owner has family in Palestine and United Arab Emirates... I had no idea where my music came from and no clue regarding the cultural/social context! Now I am frantically scrambling to find more appropriate music before my next show on the 11th!! Thank you everyone for your posts on this thread. I'm so glad I have some help figuring this one out. Sedoniaraks, I love eMusic- thanks for the tip and the list of music!

Dear Lydia is the song Ya Rayeh by Rashid Taha (the one qarza describes in the thread) the song you are talking about?
Wow, I didn't know it was wrong to dance to either though I've never heard that song before.

edit: I read Lydia's post all wrong I think, I doubt she was talking about the one actually IN qarza's thread.

Oh, oh, last year we used that song to practice the steps we learned, but only in class though, so I guess then is not that bad Well, our teacher always reminds us that she does not speak arabic, so i guess she thinks she is covered with that in case of any mistake like this...

I believe this is the clip Lydia meant:

It's not "Ya Rayeh" so I think you are safe there. This is IMO not a very danceable song. Beautiful, but not for dancing. The girl's dancing I find a bit strange. She's really cute and young and quite good, but very hectic dancing.

Ah Gisela, thats good to know. When I clicked Qarza's thread I only saw the Ya Rayeh one, got me a little confused I guess. The one you posted definitely seems unsuitable for dancing IMO. The girl seems to be dancing to a different song, too hectic indeed for the music. Her arms look quite busy too. Just doesn't seem to fit right. She's not bad at all though.
