I have been booked for a show for next week, I went trough my music collection but I have used all of that too many times and I'm totally over all the songs.
So, here is the question: can anyone recommend a song, something new (with or without lyrics) that is happy (no heavy stuff please)? Normally I use 'tribaret' kind of stuff, or experimental, but this time it needs to be just Arabic for regular belly dance ![]() |

Just regular music, no folkloric, it's a gig for a theater, I'm the last one of the show and need some songs for audience participation as well, so a few 5-10 minute songs will do.
Decisions! sharqi music? Classic? Pop? all of it? ![]() Nadege VdS, Basbousa sounds nice, is there an original with lyrics? I tried to look that up, couldn't find out. If it does have lyrics in an original do you happen to know what the song is about? Or other similar songs like Basbousa (so I have a few more) and some stuff good for audience participation :-)

Yes, there's lyrics on it. I found that Basbousa and Helwa di - Lyrics Forum for the translation.
You have another version on this one with lyrics too https://www.hollywoodmusiccenter.com...guage=english& And why not Tahtil Shibbak ? But it's a little short. And Shik Shak Shok ? Last edited by Nadege VdS; 03-13-2010 at 08:29 PM.. |

What weird lyrics for the second song in that link from the Lyrics Forum, ROTFWL!
I hate Shik Shak Shok! I think I have been bombarded way too long with that one! Every dancer uses it LOL, but good for audience participation. Maybe I have to dig that one up again. Tahtil Shibbak, is not really my taste, only if it would come without singing (checked some versions on youtube), but I couldn't figure out with the hollywoodmusiccenter version if that has singing, because the end bit is cut off.

There's Tahtil Shibbak on Bellydance Plus too, there's no lyrics on this one. But I think it's less good for audience participation. I don't know how you say in english, I think it's more "mou".
And Yasamina ? The first track on the new Virginia cd from HMC is good too. I choose it for my next choreo. No lyrics on this two ones. It's difficult to choose ![]() |

Basbousa (from Bellydance plus) was going to be one of my suggestions as well. After the introduction, "Eftatah" from the same albums occurs to me as a finale song..I would also suggest a song called "El Helwa", but this would be tricky to get as I don't know any recordings available for sale with the version I'm thinking of... Here are some more suggestions. I'm not sure if they are exactly what you are looking for, but I'll give it a try:
I know it is hard to find the perfect music, but I hope these could be of some interest. I'll fill in if I find more..
