Default Is this a good buy?

Silver bra/belt set - ebay

I've never bought a beaded set before, and was wondering if this is a good buy or not? I know I'll need to do some work to it so it'll fit properly (which I'm prepared to do), and it is the only DD-cup size set I've come across, but I don't know whether it's justifiable or not.

Advice, please? I really like it, but unless I can justify it, I can't afford it!!

Well, it depends on how much it goes for. If you were to get it for $100AU you would be bloody lucky. Why don't you check with the seller if they have a buy it now price? I do find it hard to believe the bedleh alone cost $700US new, but it is a Pharonics...

It's really nice and, as the seller says, pretty flexible.

So Pharonics is a good brand/maker?

And how would you clean something like that?

[edit] I've emailed the seller about a buy-it-now price. *crosses fingers and hopes*

Well....if that is what you're getting, and it's under $100 that's great. I would be very wary of buying it though. The seller has a zero feedback rating, which either means he/she is completely new to Ebay or has recently changed his/her online name due to bad previous feedback. I've been burned by bad sellers before and I probably would pass this by just due to that.

She got back to me with "Did you have a price in mind? Go ahead and make me an offer if you wish." Eep. What do you think would be a reasonable (not roll-around-the-floor-laughing-at-my-audaciousness) offer, given that I don't want to go above AU$100 if at all possible?

Suhad, I hadn't thought of that - I just presumed she was new to ebay.

It was listed at US$49 so would US$70 be a reasonable offer?

The person in the costume photos is a respected local MN teacher who recently moved to Pennsylvania (PA), where Ebay says the seller lives. Chances are good the seller and the model are the same person.

Lots of dancers from the Twin Cities, MN don't use Ebay, because until recently we had a local consignment service for bellydance costumes.

My guess it that it's safe to buy, but I don't know what a reasonable price is.

EDIT:Gwinty, I just emailed you with the model's name. Check your messages.

I got your message, da Sage, thanks for the reassurance!

I emailed her an offer, but since then there have been bids! *ack* *bites nails*

Actually, I'd be really surprised if she accepts my offer, as I don't believe it's anywhere near the value of the set. Still, if she listed it that cheap, she must be prepared to sell it that cheap, surely?

[edit] As I suspected, my offer was rejected. Oh well, at least one can try. Good luck to whoever does win the item.

Da Sage:

Just a nosy question here. If the seller/model/teacher lives in PA, why is she selling in AU? I'm cornfused.

The set is extremely lovely and Pharonics are tre' expensive.

Sometimes you just have to take chances I suppose. You might get burned or you might get lucky.

Here is the link to the American ebay site:

eBay: Dazzling Silver Belly Dance Bra/Belt, Anklets&Headpiece (item 130047213845 end time Nov-19-06 14:09:39 PST)

She is selling the costume in PA, USA, but she is willing to ship worldwide.
That is why gwinty found the set on the Ebay Australia site.

I've bought from overseas several times, never been burned. I would have no qualms buying from this particular seller, because I've met her in RL, and I trust her.

Aha! Thank you for clarifying the listing for me!
