Default Choosing a name

I've noticed that a lot of you have really cool dancer's names and all, and I was wondering how you went about choosing them. What did you draw on for inspiration? Or did some of you just open a book and search until you found something that seemed to fit?

ShiroiOji, your screen name is quite ammusing hahaha <---I speak Japanese

Anyway, my stage name is actually my first name and middle name, my middle name being my mother's maiden name. No one knows my last name though

Apparently Balahadia is Arabic or at least derived from Arabic. Something to do with the "balad" (countryside).

Glad you like! I needed something to change into after a bad breakup, and when I kept on trying a bunch that were already taken in English, I tried this in Japanese.

And thanks for the answer to my question, as well. I am finding everyone's inspirations quite interesting!

I know some dancers are given their dance names but I think most choose them themselves from a range of sources. If your interested here are some links that might help you!
Middle Eastern Names
1000and1.de - Information - Mainside Names - english
This one is the best with names from various sources Persian, Turkish, Hindi etc. MEN'S NAME FOR BELLY DANCE - COMPILED BY SAQRA AT HTTP://WWW.SAQRA.NET/
Good Luck!

Wow, Sita! Thanks for the links! That was pretty awesome! While I am nowhere BEAR ready to start looking for a name or anything, it's awesome to know that there is such a plethora of resources out there! Thanks again!

How about a translation of ShiroiOji for those of us who don't speak Japanese?

Oh, it's nothing too spectacular. It translates as "White Prince," though it CAN also be read as "White Uncle" if you don't know which kanji to write it in!
