I posted a reply to Caroline earlier but it hasn't appeared - how odd!

I agree with Helena. I am of the belief that just because one side is worse off that doesn't give them the right to be discriminating themselves. Then the pendulum just swings back and forth instead of stopping.

I think equality is tackled at small levels but not quite reaching the institutional ones yet.
No one should put up with name calling. It is not about men v women etc. it is about respect.

Haha! When I was young my parents bought me a Barbie pool. I used this for the place the evil characters in my He-Man play-pretend threw the good guys into (it was a lava pool, in my mind). They also kept buying me My Little Ponies, which they thought I really liked, but I wanted them because they were perfectly sized for the He-Man people to sit on and use as cavalry.

Also, whenever my sister forced me to play Barbie, I always used Skipper because I thought she looked the most like a real person. Even at the age of five, I got that. Weird, huh?

My younger daughter was heavily into pink. She took us to the My Little pony movie in the 80s. I got a migraine. Then she became a goth...
Now she's the most independent young woma and far less conventional than her older sister who didn't go through those stages!!

I wont ever into playing with dolls. I did like Barbie, and wanted one so I could dress her up, but never got one. I loved Polly Pockets! And My Little Pony! And care bears. I liked the my little Pony movie.
