Dear Gang,
This is the first time I have seen Tito perform Raqs Sharghi and he is very good!! He is a little bit more into the show-off stuff than most women are, in that it is somewhat about the movement for him and how hot he looks doing it. You seem to see that less in the really great female dancers, who seem to concentrate more on the whole picture. But maybe it is like when men cook; they simply MUST point out how good everything tastes, while women just seem to cook from a different psychology. I also see plenty of tapping into feminine essence here, although some will disagree!! Regards, A'isha Last edited by Aisha Azar; 05-07-2008 at 09:00 PM. |

I had the wonderful chance to take a workshop from Tito when I was in Toronto for the IBCC and yes he does very good ra's shar'i! Although when I took his workshop on that Friday he did more sha3bi. His style is his own, although one can see some Dina influences (who isn't influenced by Dina nowadays). He incorporatings turns into his hip circles: spinning around himself while sticking his arse out
He likes sticking his butt! At the male belly dancer panelist at the IBCC I did an impression of him that he enjoyed hehehe.Allo Prince Kayammer, nice to see you here too!

Dear Mark, That sticking out his butt thing was one of the things I really do not like about his dancing. It's VERY bad for the back for one thing and looks ridiculous. It reminded me of Delilah for some reason...??? I do like his tiny little controlled hip drops, the way he is not too machoed up and the way he uses horizontal space. He is a natural dancer and I like it best when he is not showing off too much, but going with his real feelings. Regards, A'isha |

Perhaps I simply lose my critical faculties when faced with Tito, but I adore watching him, Dina-butt and all. A'isha, could you please be a bit more explicit about where and/or how you perceive him as tapping into feminine essense? I don't see it myself, but always find your take on things interesting.

What I like is the way he looks like he's enjoying himself - while the lack of sequins and glitter has GOT to be good! If I could look that good dancing in jeans and T-shirt, I'd be happy!
I am constantly amazed at the way the same movements can look SO different when a man does them as when a woman does them... I'm not such a fan of his arm and hand movements - not sure why, perhaps just that I would like some more strength rather than delicacy (probably my biases showing). I love his strength and crisp movements though.
