THANK YOU A'ISHA!

This is exactly why I despise this article, and what I've been fighting against for years. This damn thing keeps coming up again, and again, and again. I've even found it translated into Russian for Goddess's sake!

The point is that a man who is comfortable in his own skin is sensual and just as women have an inate primal sensuality, so too do men. Egyptian dance is sensual. Its a total enjoyment with the movement of your body. I guess the best way I can express it is the look of complete selfcontentment a cat has basking in the sun and having a good stretch.

The thought of clinched fists and scowling is just so totally alien to the spirit of the people and the dance. It sounds like intense constipation. For god's sake! I also find the idea that to express my masculinity I have to pretend to be some sort of knuckle dragging neanderthal. Its like saying to be feminine a woman has to act like a bubble headed bimbo!

Default The sensuality of the male guitarist

Of course not...how could thousands of groupies be wrong?

I used to live with a "retired" lead guitarist. I'm really more amused by his ego (and the egos of some other musicians I've met), than your comment. But your comment put me in mind of their very high opinions of themselves.

EDIT: I loves the male bellydancers. I loves the male guitarists for their art (but I loves players of plucked string instruments even more). Bass guitarists are more my thing than lead types - I love a man with a sense of rhythm and flow. Don't get me started on sensuality, you might not be able to shut me up!

Dear da Sage,
The last person I dated before hooking up with my husband was a bass guitarist.... I have to say, I agree with you on this. He was one sexy guy!!
I was also a fan mail answerer for the Grateful Dead when I was young, and even roadies can have out of control egos....its amazing...But, I did get to meet a lot of interesting people.
Regards,
A'isha

+1

Yea, like if I don't act like a knuckle dragging Neanderthal, someone might mistake me for Rachel Brice? I don't think I need to worry about that!

You won't believe the amount of people who think that way

The above lines were part of a poem I wrote for my current 'gentleman partner'. He has played cello since the age of three and guitar since eight. He makes historical instruments with his father and is also a sound engineer.

I know the egos of which you speak. This particular man does not have one like that (as he often says, he's not really a musician; no interest in playing in bands, and will usually say he doesn't know how to play the guitar even while he is playing it). The coolest part is that he plays guitars that he made himself.

Even so, he'd rather be the guy at the sound board than onstage.

My ex was very much the arrogant type but he wasn't a musician.

Anyway, I also 'loves me the male bellydancers'. I agree with Zorba's response, and, well, all the responses. Sensuality is something everyone has.
