Hi Heba and Gypsy,

Have you ever spent the summer at La Plage in Marina?

Now there is an interesting study of lack of clothes.

Yes, and people still don't stop staring!

It's funny when I see Egyptian girls wearing absolutely nothing, while they give others dirty looks for wearing the same thing! Aaaah, what can I say so much contradiction LOL

NOT BAD AT ALL! HE ROCKS!!! mabrook jamil! now this is what a call a drum solo finally.....
i like the fact that he isn't stiff, and he got rythm as well....
unlike many drum solo numbers i seen alot dancers use more louder than usual external movements and the being too repetetive in the same arm position in the (letter "t" position)and too much isolating "booby dance" and too "busy" doing other things.this is what i have seen on those dancer is definetly not a drum solo.

To clarify a few things.

1. It was not my intention to tell others what I think about Jamils dancing , instead I wanted to know what others think about his dancing.

2. According to Jamils manager/pr he is a professional dancer and making a name in the local club scene in Sydney and Melbourne, both the cities have a good proportion of Australian Arabic people .He is also involved with many events organised by Amera in Sydney and will do a workshop with Farah tour in November 08, and I know for sure one dancer who is booked for the workshop. His sister was recently on national TV, she also is a belly dancer and had a chat about her “professional belly dancer brother”.

Hi Dipali,
I think your intentions were clear, so thanks for sharing this clip with us. I enjoyed it.
Thanks

PS I personally needed to clarify who he was etc. before getting into a discussion about him.

I think it's very mean to sweepingly state that x is "not a belly dancer". Clearly he is a belly dancer, just one that - like ALL of us - has his areas for development.

I hate to go there...in fact have deliberately avoided this thread as I thought we might end up down this road but... I can't help feeling that such a blanket statement wouldn't have been levelled at him if he was a her - I bet then it would be about how 'bad' 'she' is as a belly dancer, but at least whether 'she' was a belly dancer at all wouldn't have been called into question... Ok, leaving the subject there before this gets heated!

*Shudder* threads like this - where everyone picks over one single performance by one dancer - make me really glad I'm not on youtube or anywhere else where my every flaw can be analysed! Or perhaps that means you've 'come of age' belly-dance speaking? Still, not looking forward to the "Eshta of London: calls herself a "bellydancer?!?!?!?!?!" thread!

hehe what a very interesting topic!
i have always wanted people talking about me... about time its finally happening! =o)

thankyou to all those who have written such nice comments about me! =o)
to all those who have "positvely criticised" me, the only shame is that you have not looked on youtube for other more recent videos of myself. =oS

for those in question, i am a true bellydancer! i respect the art, and am true to myself and everything that raks elsharki symbolises. for anyone to question that... its not my issue! =o)

i am sorry, i would have replied earlier to this thread, but i have just been run off my feet teaching 4 days a week, performing over 8 shows a week and in the middle of negotiating international contracts with some very big names. =o) ... again, my apologies!

with love
-=Jamil=-

p.s: constructive criticism is told directly to a person in order to aid them, criticism is anything other then that (such as widespread condemnation on a international chat site) ... the shame is that most of the people on here that are so freely with the 'arm' comments and 'rigid' comments, all seem to have my personal contacts! ... this life sure is odd! =oD

Jamil,
When you put yourself on You tube, it is clear that you need and want the publicity. What I find odd is that it seems to mean so much to you that you want other people to talk about you, yet you get pretty picky about what you want to hear. I am sorry, but no matter how hard you are working or how popular you are, you still need some improvement. Take it for what it is worth to you. I was one of your fans before, and one of those who stated that you are indeed a true belly dancer. But I have changed my mind since your ego seems totally out of proportion to your talent and its all about you, obviously, and not the dance at all.

oh A'isha Azar

what a shame... i sincerely thought of all the humble members on this site you would have understood my post for what it truely signified. what a damn shame.

i do not have an ego, its not my personality. i was more or less saying that i have been devoting my time to my art more then i have to reading silly posts that degrade me and other dancers.

i really really really realllly thought that you of all, would have had enough common sense to realise that. im sorry for my assumption!

eitherway, it must be the use of Australian sarcasm you seem to be having trouble grasping

have a great day! =o)
