Hi Yashka,
Do you mean 'Saya' the Nubian song? I dont know the one you mean called Sayad and I noticed no one has posted anything about this song. If it is Saya then some words are in Arabic but most are in Nubian language. |

Hi Caroline,
I'm wondering now. You know, this song was featured on one of BDSS albums, and I would like to know if there's an original, since the BDSS one starts out in a way that makes me think it was remixed from an earlier version. I'm really not sure if it's Nubian though. I will upload the song I have to my 4shared soon so you can have a listen. I only have the BDSS one but I'm hoping to find an original if there is one. And lyrics ofcourse . |

Ok, that is a good idea. I have the last BDSS CD, is it on that one?
I dont recall it. It is possibly a Mounir song I have not heard before. I know many of them because my husband is a huge fan and plays his music alot, but dont know all of them. |

Dear Caroline,
I was going through bellydance Superstars albums online and cannot find the song, however I'm sure I've heard it in one of their dvd's or cd's. Anyhow, not being able to find it makes me wonder if it's even by Mohamed Mounir. I don't know him well enough yet to certainly say so. I've uploaded it here. This is the modern'ish sounding one. even if it's not by Mounir, I'm wondering if this is really the original and I'm still wanting to find that version if it exists ...4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download Sayad.mp3 Thanks for your help so far!! |

You may be better off trying to find the song in its original form as it maybe translated under the name ofanother artist. I do really love this version! Are you sure it is called sayed? The song does sound familiar to me but I dont know the name or anything. I will ask my husband to download it and translate for you but it may take a few days to get around to it. Le me know in the meantime if you manage to sort it. |

I asked my husband about the mounir version and he has it! it is from the album called
Emberrah Kaan omri ashreen (yesterday I was 20). It is called Siyard (like Masrawy said, fisherman) but not about fisherman but a metaphor for 'catching' girls. I was at a Mounir concert at the Cairo opera house and he sang it there but I dont remember. Masrawy, I dont remember it from Shafiq Galal either! (although I did like the clip, another great one from Gypsy) At least we have identified the song. I knew my husband would know as he loves Mounir. |
